Don’t Lend Anything to Nony

Thanksgiving is coming.

It’s my year to host for my family.

That means a minimum of 11 people spending the day here.

Doing all sorts of crazy things like playing, looking for cooking utensils, watching football games, using bathrooms, etc.

I’m excited to host, because I do love to have everyone all together.  I love to invite people into my home . . . when it’s clean.

That’s the key.

So, I’m working now to declutter my re-cluttered office, so that I can spend my time in November decorating and planning for the big day.

We’ll see how that goes.

First Drive-Me-Crazy Clutter Spot Conquered:

Honestly, this pile began as a to-be-returned pile.  It morphed into a to-be-dealt-with-later pile, and eventually into a pile of . . . well . . . you know.

I know I’ll regret this, but . . . if you know me, and you’re reading this post . . . use it as a reminder to never loan me anything.  Unless you’re willing to think of it as a gift, or you’re willing to drive to my house and dig through piles when you need it back . . . just don’t.

My intentions are good.  There’s a spot for these things.

But . . .  “remember that you need to return something” along with “remember that you’re going to see the person you need to return it to” with “remember to take it to the car on your way to see that person” with “remember that you remembered to bring it to the car” with “remember to get it out of the car” with “remember to give it to the person” . . . ?

It’s all just too much for people like me.

Here’s the spot now:

I know, some accessories would be nice.  I should also really reattach the door so the shoes would be hidden.

DON’T PRESSURE ME!!!!

Anyway . . . . it’s bare for now.  The “need to be returned” items are in the passenger seat of the Suburban.

I’m hoping for the best . . .

Everything else went to its proper home, generally either the trash can or a spot less than 10 feet away.

Same Old Same Old

October 19, 2010 By Dana White 6 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Really, I could just re-post Laundry Day’s Fatal Flaw. Because today was basically a re-run. My daughter’s room consistently gets back to disaster status because I don’t work with her to clean it up every night. I think that’s what frustrates me the most.  I know exactly what needs to be done.  […]

How To Freeze Pumpkin

October 18, 2010 By Dana White 8 Comments

264shares 73 1 190 Last week, when we had a fun Pumpkin Day, I had some extra cooked pumpkin that I needed to freeze for later use. Option One: Big glob frozen in a Ziploc bag, with no knowledge whatsoever of the amount or possibility of using only a portion of it. So I came […]

Thinking Things Through

October 18, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0 If I’m gonna . . . fail to make my bed because it’s Saturday and that somehow seems to justify laziness . . . I probably shouldn’t . . . . fall asleep while reading, using all of the wadded up blanket for warmth. Especially if . . . . it’s […]

Menu Plan Monday – Desperately Needed

October 18, 2010 By Dana White 1 Comment

2shares 0 0 2 I’ve been slacking on menu planning, and definitely have felt the effects of my neglect in the rest of the house. I’ve said it many times before, but it’s amazing how much of a difference it makes in my quest for order to not have to scramble to figure out what’s […]

Defining Normal

October 15, 2010 By Dana White 111 Comments

2.0Kshares 1.8K 1 219 First, let me say that in my non-expert opinion, there is no real definition for normal. If you have in-laws or have been a guest for more than two nights in someone’s home, you know this. People are all unique. So, having stated that no one is truly normal, let me […]

Germaphobic Scatterbrains Should Not Procrastinate

October 14, 2010 By Dana White 23 Comments

6shares 4 0 2Warning: This post contains complete and total honesty which may likely cause nausea in all readers, shuddering in most, and full-on flabbergastation in those whom I refer to as “normal.” I’m a scatterbrain. I believe I was born this way. I’m germaphobic. This was an acquired neurosis. I procrastinate. This is just […]

Creating Traditions is So Much Easier In a Clean (Or Even a Cleanish) House

October 13, 2010 By Dana White 7 Comments

125shares 125 0 0 A year ago today I was in awe that we were able to have a fun day of carving a pumpkin and baking a pumpkin pie without spending hours decluttering the dining room table and doing the dishes before we could even get started. Well, it’s Columbus Day again, and I decided […]

I Guest Posted over at Raising Arrows

October 13, 2010 By Dana White 4 Comments

0shares 0 0 0It’s been a crazy day of hour-away grocery shopping and friend visiting, but I wanted to let you know that I guest posted today over at Raising Arrows.  Amy just had a gorgeous baby boy and is taking some much needed time off. I was thankful for the opportunity to stray from […]
