Same Old Same Old

Really, I could just re-post Laundry Day’s Fatal Flaw.

Because today was basically a re-run.

My daughter’s room consistently gets back to disaster status because I don’t work with her to clean it up every night.
I think that’s what frustrates me the most.  I know exactly what needs to be done.  I need to work with her every single night before she goes to bed to put her things away.  Doing it every single night (or even 3-4 times a week) would mean that it would never get to the point where your feet CAN’T touch the floor because it is completely covered.

I know.

But I don’t.

And believe me, I had plenty of other projects that I could have worked on today.  Things that NEED to be done.

But today, I couldn’t put it off any longer because it’s Laundry Day and her clothes were buried in and around so much junk that if I didn’t clean up her room, I’d have to go shopping for new clothes.

Hmmmm.

I agree consistency is TOUGH! My incentive is that if I am consistent, my daughter will eventually be able to do it on her own (maybe even automatically out of habit??) But a lot of days that seems so far a way it's hard to stay on top of things!

    Wishing you perseverance 🙂

We used to have a hamper in there, but it was constantly filled with things other than clothes. There's a hamper in the kids' bathroom, and she does well at night . . . but the other 6 times a day she changes clothes, not so much.

We're okay with laundry here. It almost surprises me.

It's all the rest of the stuff in my daughter's room that kills me. The past few times I've decided something needs to be done, I go back and pull all the stuff from under the bed and under the desk and from out of the corners and put it all in a pile in the middle. When she gets home, I simply say "Go sort out that mess before I do."

It's turned into a kind of rinse and repeat thing. LOL

see i'm at the point that i can't afford my kids making it too much harder for me to keep up…so the changes of clothes would bug me to the point that i'd keep her clothes in my room, the laundry room..somewhere else…lol…

GOOD LUCK,,,my dd is so oblivious to what she wears…i figure it'll come eventually..

I'm with Celina. The changing 6 times a day would kill me. I would let her pick her outfit for the day and then say, that's it…until tomorrow. I suppose everyone picks and chooses their own battles, I just know for me, that is one. Dress ups are different, cuz they can just pile them in the dress up bin and go (which usually gets done), but "real" clothes is a bigger deal to me…with all the folding and stuff!
Oh, and btw, my girls' room is still looking awesome and you are right…it's just making sure that everything gets put away before they head to bed at night, even the teeny tiny things. It's such a great feeling to walk by their room and see orderliness. Next it's time to tackle my boys' room.
