This is a safe place to know you are not alone in your housekeeping struggles, to gain hope that you, too, can change, and to learn from someone who understands what it is like to feel completely overwhelmed in her home.
Dana K. White
I'm the creator of the No Mess Decluttering Process and the author of Decluttering at the Speed of Life (a Wall Street Journal bestseller). I'm also a speaker, podcaster, YouTuber, and (much to my own surprise) a Decluttering Expert. I also train and certify Decluttering Coaches in my unique process at DeclutteringCoaches.com.
My books:
A Slob Comes Clean is the completely honest (and never-ending) story of my personal deslobification process. As I find ways to keep my home under control, I share the truth about cleaning, organizing and decluttering strategies that actually work in real life for real people.
(People who don't love cleaning and organizing.)
How it Started
This all started back in 2009 when, in an attempt to get my own home under control, I started blogging as Nony (short for anonymous). I wanted to be a writer, but my disastrous home held me back. Writing on a "practice blog" as a way to figure it all out was my compromise. Little did I know that others would relate to my lifelong struggles and benefit from the things I shared. Today, I share realistic home management strategies and a message of hope for the hopelessly messy through my books, podcasts, videos and blog posts.
There are so many ways to learn here:
The books
My newest book Organizing for the Rest of Us includes all my strategies in concise, bite-sized form. It's a great introduction or a perfect refresher, and it's flipthroughable! (And it has pictures.) Also, this is the book to leave in the bathroom so your family members might start wanting to learn the things you're learning.
If you want a plan for decluttering your home, you need my book: Decluttering at the Speed of Life. I address the mindset changes and specific steps to decluttering your home, room by room. I also share strategies for helping the other people in your life declutter.
If you're completely overwhelmed and can't understand why keeping your home under control feels impossible, check out: How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind. It's the "how to" guide developed from what I learned in my own process.
The Blog
All the strategies I share in my books and elsewhere were developed and tested in my own home. As I tried things, I wrote about what did and didn't work on my blog. And it's all still there. You can read about and see photos of my strategies in action (and in real-time discovery) in blog posts here.
But if you're just so overwhelmed you can't think about a plan or sign up for a newsletter or watch a video, go here. That's where I explain how to read the very first post I ever wrote. Back when I was so overwhelmed I couldn't think about a plan, either. Thousands of women have read every post, the entire 7+ year journey. Read how how real change plays out in real time in real life.
