Do You Screech When You Scooch?

October 25, 2015 By Dana White 7 Comments

Felt Pads (no more scooching) at ASlobComesClean.com

For all the things I’ve bought over the years (platypus puppet ceiling fan vacuum attachments . . . ), I don’t buy certain things because I assume they’ll never work.

Blergh.

Well, these work.

Knowing some of you share my Unique Brand of Crazy, I thought I’d share.

I bought some chairs at a garage sale that match my chairs exactly. Not because I needed more, but because we were running a risk of the ones we had going down at any minute. We were used to that slightly sinking feeling, but seeing guests look nervous when they sat down was a little embarrassing.

I got the last three chairs at the sale, and we immediately replaced the worst of the chairs we had. (Instead of adding to, like I’d have done pre-blog.)

I say “we” but it was really Hubby and the boys. They did it one day when I was gone.

I came home and sat in one of the chairs, and as I scooched it up to the table, I noticed a very loud silence.

I was used to hearing a screeching sound when we scooched the old chairs. (FYI, “scooched” is a word according to the absence of a red, squiggly line in Word. I was surprised, too.)

fb Felt Pads (no more scooching) at ASlobComesClean.com

These new chairs had little felt pads on the bottom, and the felt pads do what they’re supposed to do. The prevent screeching while scooching.

Who knew?

Oh. Right. Probably everyone but me.

Do you screech when you scooch? You can get some screech-preventers through my Amazon affiliate link here.

Treasured Items aren’t Treasured Items if They’re Not Treasured

October 22, 2015 By Dana White 12 Comments

For my in-laws’ sixtieth anniversary, we went on a cruise with them and other extended family. We’d saved for the cruise, but we were on a budget. While everyone else went on fun excursions ziplining through the jungle, Hubby and I shopped. We walked the streets of Cozumel, experiencing touristy shopping at its best. We […]

What’s the Difference? Ten Minutes.

October 20, 2015 By Dana White 11 Comments

What’s the difference between “I can’t do this! My house is out of control! I’m doomed!!!” and “Aaaahhhh. I feel so much better now”? Ten minutes. On last week’s podcast, I shared a reality check. My house was a wreck. A bigtime wreck brought about by my current Tunnel Vision writing this book that’s due […]

Hubby: Can you get some soap? We’re about to run out! Me: It’ll be here on Monday! Hubby: Oh, good. Me: Can you show a little more excitement than that? I mean, I actually noticed we were running out! And I ordered it! Before you even asked!! Hubby: (With overly-fake-excitement) Wow. You are on […]

When You Have to Run It Anyway

October 12, 2015 By Dana White 7 Comments

I don’t make a decision about running the dishwasher every night. I can’t. I don’t trust myself to make the right one. Removing this decision means I view those leftover spots in my not-quite-full dishwasher differently. They’re not reasons to not run it (because I don’t get to make that decision). They’re reasons to look […]
