Daily Checklist – Fitting in the Tasks

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a “theatre person.” This is how I describe myself since I’m not currently doing much in that area. Little things here and there at the church keep me generally satisfied. But I’ve had this random opportunity to do a variety show in a real theatre with other real “theatre people” and I’m so excited. I’ve chosen not to do much in that area because of the time that it would consume, and I don’t want to miss this precious stage of my family’s life. But when I was approached about this and was told it would only be two weeks of rehearsal and just a small part, I decided to do it, mostly because my husband was excited for me.

So what does that have to do with my daily tasks? Well, I went to rehearsal last night and am going again tonight. Yesterday, I was proud of myself for doing most of my evening tasks in the afternoon, because I didn’t know how late I would be out. For me, this is big. I have been chugging along through busy weeks, but any time in the past when I’ve done something similar to this, I’ve let my home completely go to the bottom of the list.

Like I said though, I only did MOST of my evening tasks yesterday. I didn’t wipe down the bathrooms, though, and I then forgot to do it after I got home. So, this afternoon, I have almost done them all, with the exception being that I just started a load of laundry since I didn’t this morning before I left for Bible Study. Tomorrow’s lunches are made, clothes are laid out, bathrooms are wiped down, and hopefully I’ll finish that load of laundry.

This means that I can go tonight, shed the Mommy skin for a few hours, and not feel guilty that I’ve neglected my family and home for the sake of the stagelights.

Also today I:

Made bed.

Checked bathrooms for clutter.

Did FOCUSED 5 minute pick-up.

Cleaned kitchen.

Swept kitchen.

Whew!

I’m Done I’m Done I’m Done I’m Done I’m Done I’m Done!

October 27, 2009 By Dana White | 7 Comments

2shares 1 0 1Obnoxious title, I know. But I’M DONE!!!!!! I have officially gone back over every square inch of the walls in my office and removed the ever-so-lovely teeny tiny bits of wallpaper and then gone back over them again with the scrubby side of a sponge, and then gone back over them again […]

Daily Checklist

October 27, 2009 By Dana White | Leave a Comment

0shares 0 0 0Today I: Made bed. Checked bathrooms for clutter. Cleaned kitchen. Swept kitchen. Got off my behind and did a focused 5 minute pick-up. Washed a load and put in dryer. Last night I did my evening tasks in their entirety. No cheating this time. I folded and put away the load of […]

Daily Checklist

October 26, 2009 By Dana White | 2 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I’ll begin by admitting that I completely forgot to make lunches last night. Actually, I remembered just as I got really comfortable and warm in my bed. So I rationalized that since the dishwasher hadn’t been run for a lack of enough dirty dishes, I would have plenty of time to make […]

A Few Comments from my Family

October 26, 2009 By Dana White | 16 Comments

52shares 52 0 0My son – “But Mom, I just wore these undies a few days ago!” (I had to explain that I’m doing better on laundry now, and they really were clean.) My husband (after spilling the dog’s water in the playroom) – “Seriously, we don’t have a single dirty towel in this house?” […]

Menu Plan Monday

October 26, 2009 By Dana White | 3 Comments

2shares 2 0 0Last week I followed the menu plan pretty well. I was especially appreciative that I had extra chicken noodle soup leftover that we ate on Sunday for lunch with grilled cheese sandwiches. I put the leftover soup in the crock pot before we left for church so it was hot and ready […]

Daily Checklist

October 26, 2009 By Dana White | 1 Comment

0shares 0 0 0I’ve said before how difficult weekends are. Since we were gone all day yesterday, I felt pretty justified not doing much. That was wrong. I still need to do the basic daily tasks. Today I had a very natural thought come into my head. I was going to do a last minute […]

New Non-negotiable Task for the Week – Refocus

October 25, 2009 By Dana White | 5 Comments

1share 1 0 0We spent all day yesterday at a Boy Scout Family Campout, hence the lack of posts. We didn’t actually spend the night either night, just went for the day. It was a blast, and it was enough. So today I’ve just now been thinking about my new task for the week. At […]

Me vs. Laundry

October 23, 2009 By Dana White | 32 Comments

12shares 1 1 10I’m okay with clothing as individual pieces, I even like a lot of it, but as an entire group of my family’s clothing, I despise it. Does this make me a laundrist? Laundry overwhelms me. But since I have a moral dilemma with going to the grocery store naked, I have to […]
