Saturdays are hard when it comes to the daily tasks. Today was a fun day. I forced my kids into a photo shoot in the front yard before my husband raked up all the leaves. They actually smiled and looked cute. I don’t have to tell any other mother how difficult it is to get multiple kids to smile (naturally, not like crazy people) and avoid picking their noses, all at the same time.
And then they wanted to go to the neighbor’s yard sale. I was a little scared just looking at the overall ambiance of the sale, but they discovered a box FULL of craft projects like little unpainted dollhouse furniture. And they wanted 5 cents for most of them. FIVE CENTS!!???
Talk about getting my kids excited. They ran home and grabbed their money and went to town. Then we came home and got out the paints.
They had such a blast painting their “beautiful” creations. And my kitchen was pretty much clean, so I was able to not freak out about spreading out newspaper and letting them have some fun. It’s amazing how much creativity is freed up by a basic sense of order.
So, today I haven’t done all my tasks, but I have:
cleaned kitchen.
Emptied dishwasher.
That’s it.
It’s not everything I should have done, but somehow keeping the kitchen sink free of dirty dishes makes you feel like you’re not a total slob.
