Saturday Checklist

Saturdays are hard when it comes to the daily tasks. Today was a fun day. I forced my kids into a photo shoot in the front yard before my husband raked up all the leaves. They actually smiled and looked cute. I don’t have to tell any other mother how difficult it is to get multiple kids to smile (naturally, not like crazy people) and avoid picking their noses, all at the same time.

And then they wanted to go to the neighbor’s yard sale. I was a little scared just looking at the overall ambiance of the sale, but they discovered a box FULL of craft projects like little unpainted dollhouse furniture. And they wanted 5 cents for most of them. FIVE CENTS!!???

Talk about getting my kids excited. They ran home and grabbed their money and went to town. Then we came home and got out the paints.

They had such a blast painting their “beautiful” creations. And my kitchen was pretty much clean, so I was able to not freak out about spreading out newspaper and letting them have some fun. It’s amazing how much creativity is freed up by a basic sense of order.

So, today I haven’t done all my tasks, but I have:

cleaned kitchen.

Emptied dishwasher.

That’s it.

It’s not everything I should have done, but somehow keeping the kitchen sink free of dirty dishes makes you feel like you’re not a total slob.

Daily Checklist

November 13, 2009 By Dana White | 2 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Made bed. Emptied dishwasher. Swept kitchen. Made pumpkin muffins. (Yes, I’m trying to be like all the cool bloggers who’ve ALL been making pumpkin muffins lately.) Mopped kitchen. (Go me!) Did 5 minute pickup. Not totally focused, but I need to get this written before I go pick up the boys. Checked […]

Working on the Boys’ Scary Room

November 13, 2009 By Dana White | 10 Comments

1share 1 0 0REALLY scary. This is not a post about some big success. I didn’t even take a before picture. I might take a half-way through picture and say it was before. That’s how bad it is. I feel so bad about the example I’ve been to my children. Why in the world should […]

Last night I: Put the load of laundry in the washer, ready to be started this morning. Made lunches. Put out the […]

Thirteen Things I Found at the Bottom of my Closet

November 12, 2009 By Dana White | 10 Comments

2shares 0 0 2 What exactly is the point of having a walk-in closet if you can’t walk into it? I cleaned out my closet today, which was one of my big goals for the week. It’s time to start taking inventory of Christmas gifts so I can know what I still need to buy. […]

0shares 0 0 0Today I: Made bed. Emptied dishwasher. Swept kitchen. (Just now, at almost 9pm, purely so I could write this post with a clear conscience.) Checked bathrooms for clutter. Did concentrated 5 minute pickup. (Again, just now.) Last night I made lunches, wiped down bathrooms, and put out the boys clothes. I didn’t […]

Enjoying My Office!!!

November 10, 2009 By Dana White | 8 Comments

1share 0 0 1 I finally finished painting the office last week, and I have been really happy with the color. The only problem was that I hadn’t put it back together yet. So although the walls were pretty, the room was in total chaos. The furniture was still shoved together in the middle of […]

Daily Checklist and a "What’s the Point?" moment

November 10, 2009 By Dana White | 13 Comments

134shares 133 0 1Out of our three kids we don’t have an official sleepwalker. We do, however, have a “sleep-pee-er.” I made up that word, so you might have to sound it out to get it. Last night, less than an hour after doing my nightly task of wiping down the bathroom counters and toilets, […]

Menu Plan Monday

November 9, 2009 By Dana White | 5 Comments

0shares 0 0 0 Has it only been a week since I made the last menu plan? It feels like forever ago. I did make a few things from the plan, but I was also blessed by someone making us a surprise meal. Here goes: Monday – chicken pot pie using the frozen cooked chicken […]
