Trying to Be Cool

You may remember that I’m going to the Savvy Blogging Summit in July. I’m totally excited as I am dreaming more and more of where this blog could go. Just last night, I was at a pool party for my husband’s work, eavesdropping on a conversation between several women complaining about their struggles to keep their homes out of chaos.

Seriously people, we’re not alone.

But still, going somewhere and identifying myself publicly as a slob scares the blankety-blank out of me. Meeting new people and sharing my deepest-darkest secret, probably within the first two sentences? Aaaaahhhhh!

So, in an effort to fit in, I want a really cool business card holder. I haven’t ordered my business cards yet . . . but I’ve thought about it, designed one, and chickened out just shy of ordering them. It’s that “finishing” issue again.

Another blogger who is going, and who seems to be quite down-to-earth and fun, the kind of real-life person I gravitate toward, is working hard to earn the money she needs to go. Meghann Dunham blogs at the Half-Pint House, and also has an etsy shop full of ultra-cute bags and such in quilty, monogrammy styles. In an effort to get the word out about the stuff she’s selling to pay her way, she has asked the attendees to link to her site and store, and she’s going to give the first twenty-five of us who do a business card holder.

My regular readers know that if I’m going to carry around business cards, I should really have a holder for them. It’ll be embarrassing enough to introduce myself as “Nony the Slob” without also digging in my abyss of a purse for 30 minutes trying to produce a business card. Knowing me, and how summer goes, I could accidentally pull out a pair of one of my kids’ undies.

And, best of all, if she has to give one to me, that will pretty much be a guarantee that someone will talk to me!!!

And who knows, maybe one day I’ll have my own house under control, and when I eavesdrop on another conversation like last night’s, I’ll be bold enough to pull out my cutesy little business-card-holder and share my hope with them!

Give it to Nony . . . She’ll Take Anything

145shares 143 0 2Biggest Garage Sale Rule for Slobs – Bring nothing back into the house. I had my garage sale two weeks ago tomorrow. I haven’t brought anything back into the house, but there were several bags of clothing sitting in the garage, producing guilt. Several, as in, they filled the back of my […]

0shares 0 0 0Really? It’s Friday again? I’m thinking that my complete shock at the appearance of Thursday evenings just demonstrates my need to stop and check my focus. Otherwise, life goes on, and my home slides farther down on my priority list. You can read about the basic concept behind Focus Check Friday here. […]

One Week’s Worth of Clothing – My Summer Experiment of Drastic Measures

June 3, 2010 By Dana White 25 Comments

230shares 211 0 19 I’m heading quickly into summer-mode, but in a last-ditch effort to make some improvements and keep our home manageable, I’m conducting an Experiment of Drastic Measures. I’m boxing up all but one week’s worth of clothing. I’ve been thinking lately that I needed to box up all of our school uniforms […]

Daily Checklist – A Few Days Worth

June 3, 2010 By Dana White Leave a Comment

0shares 0 0 0I haven’t written out my daily checklist for at least two days now. Maybe more. I have good excuses. Monday was Memorial Day. Tuesday and Wednesday I volunteered at my kids’ schools exactly during my normal blogging time. Writing anything at all felt like an accomplishment. But it’s not that I haven’t […]

Bathroom Cleaning Supply Baskets for the Kids

June 1, 2010 By Dana White 10 Comments

513shares 336 0 177 How incredibly cute are these baskets? Too bad they didn’t have any pink ones left, but at least my daughter got a pink sponge and a pink topped spray bottle. Today has been crazy with end-of-school-goings-on, but I was determined to get something done, since every day this week will be […]

May 31, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Happy Memorial Day! The boys are out fishing, so I’m taking advantage of some free time to put more thought into my menu plan than I have in a while. This week is full to the brim with kindergarten graduation and a baseball game for the same kid on the same night […]
