June Decluttering Update

When I saw on Twitter that Amy over at The Finer Things in Life had posted the June decluttering update linky, I thought that she must be doing it early since she’s going to the Savvy Blogging Summit.

Except that June IS over.

Wow.

So here goes, my decluttering progress for June:

(I fully expected to open another browser, click on the decluttering category, and have to come back here to say . . . nada.)

But there were a few entries there.

I definitely think that my drastic Laundry Experiment is decluttering. I got rid of quite a few items of clothing, but even just packing up and putting away all but 8 outfits per kid has really reduced our clothing-clutter/laundry-load.

I would say that my forced-deep-freeze-clean-out was my biggest decluttering effort of the month. I got rid of food that had been in there . . . well . . . way too long. It feels fantastic to look in our new freezer and see empty space, and know that everything in there is edible!

And the clean-out of our Suburban can also be classified as decluttering, since someone driving by might think we had just decluttered an entire house with all of the “excess” sitting out on the driveway.

Oh, and I re-cleaned off my computer desk, and though I did take before and after pics and fully plan to post about it, I’m currently running around trying to get ready for our vacation.

Although I’ve not been crazily decluttering for the summer, I have done some. It’s my reality that I have to adjust my thinking to understand that small amounts of decluttering is necessary to maintain any progress I’ve made in this deslobification process.

I love what you did with your kids' clothing! I want to do a similar thing with my 18-month-old. We have more clothes than he can possibly hope to wear, but really we do reach for the same favorite items most of the time anyway.

It just seems to minimize laundry and closet clutter.

I'm still waiting to tackle my own closet. I'm 16w pregnant and I'm in that in-between stage right now. So I can get a start, but I think the rest might have to wait until I'm in maternity full-time.

Yes even the small areas count.

I think I need to do a freezer clean out. It's just too hot to get out into the garage to do it.
