Cleaning Your Fridge Water Dispenser - A Slob Comes Clean

We had a (not so) lovely case of strep throat in the house on Friday.  Besides the normal upheaval, my germaphobe brain latched onto the doctor’s “highly contagious” warning.

I knew that, so why did she have to say it???

Henceforth, I was freakishly aware of everything my daughter touched for the next twenty-four hours and everything that might have touched something she touched.

So, even though I tried to be sure that each of her refills came in a different cup, I did decide to disinfect the water-dispenser push-thingys.

Just in case.

And as I did, I saw how they really weren’t white anymore.  And how easily they became white again with just a slight amount of effort.

How exactly did I not notice that before?

There you go.  Another detail for my 31 Days of Details.

Spontaneously Tackling a Detail That’s Bugged Me for Years

October 15, 2011 By Dana White 15 Comments

11shares 11 0 0 This morning, I awoke to pink cabinet pulls in my bathroom. The same way I have for more than five years now. Honestly, I didn’t think much about them, or about how much I didn’t like them, until I drove up to the building supply store and saw the ones I’ve […]

Dish-Drying Mat Giveaway!!!

October 14, 2011 By Dana White

17shares 16 0 1Since big dishes, the ones that take up all of my counter space, tend to be a detail/afterthought in my mind, I think this giveaway is perfect for my 31 Days of Details series. Have you seen those microfiber, highly absorbent dish-drying mats?  Have you ever wondered if they work?  Recently, I […]

Detail First (Or Not at All)

October 13, 2011 By Dana White 8 Comments

15shares 13 0 2 My Father-in-Law is coming to spend the night tomorrow night.  Our house is just a place to sleep between the events of his high school reunion nearby.  I’m happy that we can provide a place for him. But I’m also a little panicked that he’s coming . . . tomorrow! I […]

Coming Back to a Detail

October 12, 2011 By Dana White 9 Comments

73shares 73 0 0 Remember last week when I made the choice to deal with sticks instead of clearing off an obviously cluttered shelf in my living room? Remember how I chose the sticks based completely on the assumption that the sticks would be quicker? I was wrong. Today, I dealt with the shelf, and […]

Daisy Cupcakes – The Only Detail that Mattered Today

October 11, 2011 By Dana White 4 Comments

106shares 58 0 48 Today . . . was crazy. But I did empty the dishwasher and re-load it to be   run again tonight.  It’s that warding-off-disaster thing. Anyway, the majority of my day between getting home from Bible Study and delivering frozen cookie dough that just happened to come in on the day of […]

Today’s Detail: Heels

October 10, 2011 By Dana White 23 Comments

10shares 10 0 0No, not high-heels as the detail to complete a stylish outfit. Far from it. Heels of bread.  Lots of them.  Each pair in its own individual bread bag, scattered throughout my fridge. There was no school today, so we decided to go on a (cheap) family outing.  We headed to a state […]

Menu Plan – and a Pesky Little Detail Called Completion

October 9, 2011 By Dana White 7 Comments

7shares 7 0 0It’s over a week into my 31 Days of Details, and honestly . . . today feels like a take-a-nap-while-it’s-raining kind of day. But I’ve promised to notice AND act upon details every day this month. Since it’s time to plan my menu anyway, which means thinking about groceries, I thought I’d […]

The One In One Out Rule – It’s a Detail

October 8, 2011 By Dana White 7 Comments

248shares 245 0 3 I got a new travel mug this week. A really cute purple and white one. I brought it home, washed it, and put it immediately in the coffee-mug cabinet.  All in the same day. For me, an accomplishment.  I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve found cutesy stuff in […]
