A few years ago, I wrote an October series called 31 Days of (Lame) Excuses. I share a few of my go-to excuses (and how I’ve gotten over them) in this podcast.

Thank you for this one! That attitude about how you were at your new school really hit me today. I moved two years ago to a new town. I don’t love it…and I tell people that! I’m going to change that because really there are some really neat things about this town. I LOVE it!!

Yep! I’ve been exactly there, Carrie. Exactly. Multiple times in new places.

    Hi Dana,

I need to thank you for (many things but especially today) the bit of this podcast where you tell the story about your college transfer. It really hit home for me because my husband is being transferred and we’re leaving our home that we never wanted or expected to leave. I’ve been pretty brokenhearted about the move and BOY OH BOY are people tired of hearing about it… I imagine. (Only my sister has come out and SAID she was tired of it, but she can’t be the only one.)

So… there are some positive things about the place we’re going. I’m am going to really concentrate on those and say, “I’m excited about _____” both to myself and to others who ask… if anyone is silly enough to do that at this point.

Thank you again for that mighty little story about the power of mindset!

Thank you so much for mentionning the “but” clarifications!
They always open doors to too much details, and for the most part, they are negative.
It made me realize how much I use them and how much they ruin so many moments, for myself and others… I have to work on that!
    Thank you so much!!!

I really needed to hear this today. I have been struggling with resentment lately that my son does not help me keep our house clean and continually makes messes. He’s almost 12 so old enough to pick up after himself and help with household chores but has slob vision even worse than I do and us both having ADD doesn’t help matters. I’m trying to learn to be more consistent with my daily cleaning habits so I really needed to hear that all I can control is what I do and hope that he will eventually learn from my example. Dana you have been such an inspiration to me and helped me so much in getting my house under control! You are amazing!
