Plans, Schmans

I had such big plans for today.  So many little projects that need to be done.  Clean out the linen closet, changeover to summer clothes, blah blah blah and yada yada yada.

But alas, plans rarely go as . . . well . . . planned.

It probably wasn’t a good sign that I remembered (at 7:11) that my son’s school was having Muffins for Mom at 7:10 this morning.  I try to look nice(ish) when I go to his school, but this morning’s rush didn’t leave much opportunity for that.  I went for the workout look.  If your hair needs to be washed and you don’t have time to put on much makeup, Nike capris and a t-shirt make it seem that you’re headed to the gym right after this.  Not that I was.

Then, after rushing home and working on the kitchen, planning in my head how in the world I was going to get everything on my list done, hubby called to see if we could take the car to the shop.  Sure!  Why not??

So off we went, and then on the way back, he wanted to stop so we could vote.  SURE!  WHY NOT?? I mean, I’m in my workout clothes, but hey . . .

Home.  Frantic kitchen cleaning.  Bathrooms wiped down (it’s Tuesday after all).  Total rationalization to not make the cheeseburger pockets that didn’t get made over the weekend, but are on the menu plan for tonight.  Except that tonight is going to be equally as crazy as this morning, with PTO stuff at the school all afternoon, dentist appointment, one car, daddy having appointments all afternoon, and T-ball game at 5:30.

So I made them.  Fast and furious, but they’re done, and we have supper to take to the ballgame tonight.  And I’m more than a little proud of myself for that.

Whew.

So, Maybe I’m Not Martha . . .

May 3, 2010 By Dana White 11 Comments

26shares 26 0 0 Maybe I’m not Martha, but these things are awesome! I didn’t make all of the things on my freezer cooking plan, but I did spend my Happening-Saturday-Night making these breakfast pockets, and they’re the best ones I’ve made so far. I don’t know if it made the difference, but I used […]

My Decluttering Progress for April

May 3, 2010 By Dana White 1 Comment

1share 0 1 0I can’t believe it’s May. When I wrote the title for this post just now, I had to stop and think which month to write, because April just started, but I already had a post about March. Actually, April just ended. Wow. I did pretty well last month, moving steadily toward my […]

Menu Plan Monday

May 3, 2010 By Dana White 7 Comments

1share 0 0 1Again, I regretted neglecting a menu plan last week. Even my kitchen seems to stay cleaner when I have a plan, and the reverse when I don’t. Who knows how that works? And thinking about my menu now probably saved me a decent chunk of money. I have a roast in the […]

More Freezer Cooking Plans!

April 30, 2010 By Dana White 8 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I’ve done this for several months now, and I find it quite funny that just as hubby ran out of breakfast pockets, Money Saving Mom is doing another Freezer Cooking Days. So . . . um . . . obviously I’m doing more breakfast pockets. I made them with ham, eggs and […]

My Vacuum Cleaner’s New Frontier

April 30, 2010 By Dana White 2 Comments

0shares 0 0 0It’s Friday . . . so I dusted and vacuumed.  In the past two months or so of this new Task-a-Day thing, I’ve developed a bit of a method for vacuuming my house.   Since all the main areas of the house have hardwood floors, I go through first with the broom and get […]

Laundry Day’s Fatal Flaw

April 29, 2010 By Dana White 11 Comments

2shares 2 0 0So I’m loving laundry day. Mostly the lack of the nagging I-should-be-doing-laundry-right-now feeling. It’s an almost perfect plan. Focus for one day. Forget it – sans guilt – for the other six. I’ve even proven that I can do it on days when we have a field trip to the zoo. Nothing’s […]

Daily Checklist

April 29, 2010 By Dana White 6 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Today has been better than yesterday’s Day of Funk. I made my bed when I got up . . . a good sign. I emptied the dishwasher, cleaned up the kitchen after last night’s excessively messy rice-krispies-as-a-chicken-coating episode. (Do NOT get distracted while crushing rice krispies with the bottom of a cup […]

Curing My Funk

April 28, 2010 By Dana White 6 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Me and my moods. I call this a funk. It’s not like I’m down or anything, I just don’t feel like doing anything. I’m tired, run-down, listless . . . maybe I need some Vitametavegamin? It isn’t that anything is wrong. It’s a normal crazy Wednesday. I discovered while sitting in my […]
