Vocabulary Lessons from the Summer of Clean

Elbow Grease – Cannot be bottled or purchased, must come directly from the elbow of the person using it. Varying degrees of pain may be involved.

Toilet bowl – The part of the toilet that looks like a bowl. Fairly self-explanatory, but a hilarious mental picture to a 6 year old boy.

Unwieldy – Difficult to carry due to shape, size, etc. Used in a sentence: The Oreck vacuum cleaner only weighs 8 pounds, but it is unwieldy to a boy who is not as tall as the vacuum cleaner.

0shares 0 0 0It’s Friday. It’s summer. It’s also the day we begin our road trip. Focus in this situation is more necessary than in a normal week, but oh so much more difficult to achieve. Why I Have to Run my Dishwasher EVERY Night

June 28, 2010 By Dana White 110 Comments

1.6Kshares 1.0K 6 575 I’ve mentioned to a few people that I run the dishwasher every night, and empty it every morning. They think it’s strange to not just wait until it “needs it.” They don’t understand because they’re normal. I’m not. I have to make myself run it every night for two reasons.   […]

Hereditary Blindness

June 25, 2010 By Dana White 4 Comments

62shares 62 0 0 It’s official.  I’ve passed down my selective-vision to my children. VBS is officially over, and I’m in cousins’ camp/vacation/Savvy Blogging Summit prep mode. One of the biggest things on my list?  Clean out the Suburban.  The brand-new-to-us-but-really-13-year-old-and-yes-we-do-listen-to-Dave-Ramsey-why-do-you-ask Suburban. Why is it important to point out that it is brand-new-to-us? Because although […]

Focus Check Friday

June 25, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I’m ready for Friday.  It’s been a fun week of VBS at our church, but I’m glad tomorrow is the last day. As for my focus this week . . . I’ve survived.  I halted the big weekly cleaning tasks, and I’m okay with that.  I did alright at the daily stuff, […]
