Random Weekend Thoughts

First of all, have you noticed that I finally added a picture to my profile? I know that I snuck in a pic in my blogfrog community recently, but this was a big step for me to have one smack-dab at the top of the page. If you’re in the mood, let me know in the comments if I look anything like you imagined. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being “You look exactly like I thought!” and 1 being “Are you using a stock-photo, cuz that’s not anything like the image I had in my head.” 5 would be “Ummm, get over yourself, no one cares.” (I reserve the right to not publish 5s.)

Second, I have a Facebook page now! Another big step for me. I set it up while I was at the Savvy Blogging Summit, but haven’t really said anything about it. I’d love it if you would go “like” me over there. Soon, I’ll figure out how to get new posts to show up on it, so if you’re a facebook junkie, you’ll see when they pop up.

(I am fully aware that the first two points of this post are quite needy-sounding and ego-driven.)

And third, Vistaprint is offering 140 address labels for free. Shipping on the address labels is between 3 and 4 dollars, depending on how fast you want them. I think 7 days, the fastest, is about 3.90.  I’m thinking of ordering some to use as labels for school supplies. Two kids in school plus a million-bajillion teeny tiny supplies equals hand-cramps and Sharpie-smudged-fingers for mommy. I read somewhere years ago that if you have multiple kids, label things using your last name only, so those things become family items that are eventually used by everyone, not hand-me-downs from the big kid to a little kid. It’s a psychological thing.  Using that basic concept, I’m thinking of ordering the labels with just our last name, so I can use them for both boys.

I used Vistaprint for my business cards for the Savvy Blogging Summit, and was very pleased. It’s easy to design things there, and they shipped quickly. They have millions of offers, allllll the time, so you may not want to sign up with your primary email account, but if you are in need of the things they have, they do a good job.   (And by the way . . . if you are wondering . . . the links to Vistaprint are my affiliate links, but everything I said is true about how pleased I was w/my experience with Vistaprint.)

Focus Check Friday – All About the Focus

July 23, 2010 By Dana White 4 Comments

0shares 0 0 0It’s Friday again, and this time, it really is. It’s not Thursday night, when I’m supposed to put up the Focus Check Friday post. I didn’t post until pretty late last night, and I simply didn’t have the energy or desire to also get this one up. We had been gone all […]

Yet Another Reason Why I Can’t Afford Library Books

July 23, 2010 By Dana White 2 Comments

0shares 0 0 0 I’ve admitted before that I can’t afford library books. This morning, as I got ready for one of my greatest pleasures, leg-shaving/book-reading-no-of-course-you-can’t-come-in-Mommy’s-in-the-tub-no-I-don’t-have-any-idea-how-much-longer-I’ll-be-in-here time, I confirmed in my mind that it is much smarter, much more frugal of me to buy books at garage sales than to check them out from the […]

Recordings of the Savvy Blogging Summit Sessions are Available for Purchase

July 21, 2010 By Dana White 1 Comment

0shares 0 0 0Sorry!  This offer has expired.   Oh the irony. I shared last weekend about my experience at the Savvy Blogging Summit. I went on and on about how much I learned. I trembled as I typed about how I was going to take advantage of opportunities here and there to monetize this […]

A Midsummer Day’s Report

July 21, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0It’s the middle of summer, edging toward the end. I can’t tell you how sad this makes me. As much as I lament my own ability to keep the house under control without routine, I wouldn’t trade this time for anything in the world. I treasure every moment that my kids are […]

I’ll Take Any Motivation I Can Get

July 20, 2010 By Dana White 14 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Aaaaahhhhh, our bathrooms are clean(er than they were yesterday)!!! It’s Tuesday, which is bathroom-cleaning day, but we missed the last three Tuesdays due to vacation and VBS, both valid excuses. But I didn’t want to clean bathrooms today. I mean, if they’ve gone that long without being cleaned, what’s one more week? […]

Maybe I Need to Make a Sign

July 19, 2010 By Dana White 10 Comments

1share 0 0 1My master bedroom. Ugh. I have worked so hard, and come so far on that room. But right now . . . . it looks almost like it used to. The only difference is that this time I feel justified. I know that it isn’t a mass of randomness. I know that […]

Menu Plan Monday – Stretching What We Already Have

July 19, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I’ll admit it. Menu planning hadn’t even entered my mind until I sat down just now. It’s amazing how easy it is to get out of routine during vacation times. But since we have about five days until payday, and we “dedicated” a portion of our grocery budget to our vacation, I’m […]

My Savvy Blogging Summit Report

July 17, 2010 By Dana White 17 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I wasn’t going to write this post yet. While the Savvy Blogging Summit ended almost a week ago, I arrived home late Wednesday night. Really late. I got home at midnight and copy-pasted a post I had written on Tuesday morning, but hadn’t had the chance to put up for lack of […]
