Menu Plan Monday – First Week of My New and Improved Routine

January 2, 2011 By Dana White 8 Comments

It’s officially 2011.

Ummmm, how exactly did that happen?

I’ve been in-my-head-blogging all day about starting off the year right, the adjustments I’ll be making to my routine, etc.

But I can’t forget the important building block for all of that . . . a menu plan.

So before I get into philosophy and deep thoughts and renewed commitments and all that jazz, I need to get this done.

Monday – Chicken Noodle Soup.  Because it’s cold.  Because chicken is on sale, and because I have a new crockpot to try out.  And of course, I’ll be cooking up lots of extra chicken (since the crockpot is huge) and will have some to use for easy meals in future weeks.

Tuesday – Beef Stroganoff.  Because . . . sour cream was one of the things I was supposed to take to my mother-in-law’s house on Christmas day . . . but  forgot (not surprising at all).  I had to go pick up more at the only open-grocery-store we could find, and now we have . . . . quite a bit.

Wednesday – Taco Soup.  Because it sounds good to me.

Thursday – Leftover brisket in gravy . . . over mashed potatoes.  Yum.

Friday – Out to eat!

Saturday – Homemade pizza

Sunday – Home groups.  Someone else is bringing supper, so it’s automatically delicious.

What are you cooking this week?

Go check out other menu plans over at Menu Plan Monday over at Orgjunkie.com.

2010 Blog Recap – A Fun Exercise

December 31, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

I saw that one of my favorite always-honest-and-very-funny blogger friends, Mary at Giving Up on Perfect was participating in a 2010 Recap Carnival over at Musings of a Housewife. The idea is to share the first lines of your first post from each month. Hmmm. I went to January, and saw that what I thought […]

Considering a New Label for Myself

December 30, 2010 By Dana White 12 Comments

Labels. Some are good and some bad. While I don’t like being labeled, sometimes labeling myself is a good thing. Call me a slob? Them’s fightin’ words. But deciding to call myself a slob?  That has been very freeing. If someone else called me that, I would wonder what they meant.  Are they calling me […]

Blogging Goals for 2011

December 29, 2010 By Dana White 8 Comments

It’s that time of year for goal setting.  I’ve been thinking about goals/resolutions/whatever-you-want-to-call-them in the area of my deslobification process, and I’ll be sharing those in the next few days. But of course, I’m also thinking about my blogging goals.  And since Savvy Blogging is hosting a blogging goals linky, I thought I would go […]

Sausage Strudel Bites – Ultra Easy Brunch Recipe

December 28, 2010 By Dana White 26 Comments

This year, I made these sausage strudel bites for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning, Christmas morning . . . and I may just make them again on New Year’s morning. They’re that good. So easy to make ahead and then bake just before eating.  And oh my word, they taste fabulous.  Whenever hubby needs to […]

Solving the Messy Bedroom Mystery

December 27, 2010 By Dana White 7 Comments

Solving. Not “I solved.” Definitely not “How to Solve.” I’ve been thinking about this post for at least a week, but it was going to be “Solving the Messy Master Bedroom Mystery.”  But then, today, in preparation for my 9yo’s slumber party tomorrow night, we tackled the boys’ room. Oh my. I know/knew that their […]

Menu Plan Monday – The Leftovers and Easy Meals Edition

December 27, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

I’m so relaxed right now. My house is a wreck, with Christmas candy and boxes still strewn all over the floor since we left the house at noon on Christmas day and arrived back home late last night. And I’m just not the type who has to have things picked up before I can think […]

My Christmas Eve To Do List

December 24, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

Other than flying by too quickly, this has been a lovely week.  We’ve had a nice mix of piddling around the house and going and doing fun things.  I’ve had a few gifts to search out, but overall it has been great. The kind of week after which I’ve heard normal people say, “It’s been […]
