Menu Plan – That’s One Thing I Can Do

Since my house is a disaster after a week of total focus on our church Christmas production and total lack-of-focus on the house, I figure that the least I can do is plan a menu.

Besides, I’m craving some home-cooked food after a week of takeout pizza and burgers.

Monday – Chicken in mushroom gravy over rice (make extra rice for Chicken Fried Rice later in the week)

Tuesday – Tortilla soup

Wednesday – Chicken Fried Rice

Thursday – Here’s hoping that ground beef goes on sale somewhere starting Wednesday, and we’ll have beef stroganoff.

Friday – Out to eat!

Saturday – Home-made pizzas

Even if I don’t follow the plan exactly, just having one helps immensely in my quest for home order!

And for those who have kindly asked for a report, the Christmas show went beautifully!

I’ll be linking this up to Menu Plan Monday over at Orgjunkie.com.

Sometimes It Helps If You Sit Down For a Moment . . .

December 3, 2010 By Dana White 6 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Sometimes it helps to just sit down for a moment. Because then you have a new perspective . . . and you see things like this: No, I’m not talking about the out-of-place-since-their-weddings-to-Polly-Pocket wisemen. Or the socks on the table. Or the trash on the floor. This: No, not the stacked-on-top DVDs […]

Sometimes Clutter Can Have Its Advantages

December 2, 2010 By Dana White 5 Comments

45shares 45 0 0Two huge boxes. Hidden in plain sight. Two boxes that, if you look closely, actually say on the outside what they are. And Christmas is less than a month away. But somehow, my kids haven’t even noticed that these are sitting in the corner of the master bedroom. Yes, sometimes clutter has […]

That’ll Show Me!!!

December 1, 2010 By Dana White 5 Comments

0shares 0 0 0Noticed the lack of posts about what I’m actually doing to keep my home out of chaos right now? I’ve been sharing slob-stories, storage frustrations, and decorating ideas, but not a single mention lately of sweeping the kitchen. Yeah, that’s because . . . I  haven’t swept the kitchen. My tunnel vision […]

Vacuuming the Christmas Tree . . . And Other Dos and Don’ts for Storing Christmas Decorations

November 30, 2010 By Dana White 24 Comments

127shares 120 0 7 It would make more sense to talk about storing Christmas decor . . . . after Christmas. Except that by then, I’ll have forgotten all the things I grumbled to myself while getting our decorations out of their boxes. Like while I was vacuuming my Christmas tree. 1. DON’T store your […]

Are We Ready to Use My Favorite Nativity Scene Display Idea?

November 28, 2010 By Dana White 16 Comments

4.3Kshares 356 0 4.0K Years ago, I saw someone use this display idea for their nativity scene. They placed the figurines on top of a large Bible, opened to Luke 2. I loved the idea, immediately re-created it in my own home, and assumed that I would use it every year for the rest of […]

The Case of the Caramel Corn Larva

November 26, 2010 By Dana White 6 Comments

0shares 0 0 0 I don’t wear brown shoes very often. In fact, I must not wear them at all.  I didn’t even remember that I had some. So while looking through my closet for something to wear with my new brown skirt, I was overly excited to see that I do have brown shoes. […]

Thankful For Any Help I Can Get

November 25, 2010 By Dana White 2 Comments

34shares 34 0 0 Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for every moment that I have with my little family.  For every laugh, every tear, every conversation, every opportunity for a snuggle. The perfect moments, and the imperfect ones. My 4yo daughter decided to clean the bathroom . . . mirror and all . . . with […]

Ever Wondered What a Slob Looks Like While Eating Chicken Soup on a Thursday Night?

November 24, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

0shares 0 0 0    There is officially no point to this post, other than that I loved the look on my husband’s only-a-little-surprised-because-we’ve-been-married-for-11-years-and-he-knows-I’m-always-up-to-something face when he came home to me glitzed up and stirring soup. I was headed to a dress rehearsal after supper. I guess it’s possible that you look like this every […]
