A Strange Satisfaction

A Strange Satisfaction at ASlobComesClean.com

First of all . . . I put my Christmas decorations away on NEW YEAR’S EVE!!!

Like . . . even the tree.

Like . . . all the way into the attic. (Actually Hubby did the attic part, but still.)

Once the applause dies down and the shock wears off . . . I’ll share my moment of strange satisfaction.

Ready now?

I love this box. It’s a huge box for a single smallish, but rather expensive figurine.  The box is huge because  special packing foam was sprayed into half of it, and then the figurine was put in, and another bag of special packing foam was sprayed and put on top.

Confused?

In an effort to keep this item safe while shipping, the packing material is specially formed to fit it exactly. Like, that box is MADE for that figurine.  There’s no where else to put this Santa, and it would make no sense to put anything else in that box.

And once it’s in there, in its own special box, Santa is safe for the rest of the year.  Maybe a little hot in our Texas attic . . . but safe.

Putting that one item in that one box gives me a strange satisfaction.

It’s a place.  A specific place for a specific thing.  No wrapping up Santa in newspaper and hoping I pad him  in all the right spots.  No seeing how many knick-knacks I can fit into the box.

No decisions.

I wonder if this strange satisfaction is what drives normal people to get all giddy about organizing.

I wonder.

I love that giddy feeling! Whenever I finish an organizing project, I ride a giddy high for days. Just knowing that an object has a specific place that I can put it and do not have to think about where it goes is so stress-relieving. It is definitely a strange but amazing satisfaction.

I have a few partylight Christmas pieces that fit just so, nestled into the foam that comes in the box. I like putting these away, because I know just exactly how I’ll find them next year. I wish a few other things were that simple. When you pack seven kids and two adults into 980 sq ft, you get some pretty unique and inspired storage going on!

I know that feeling! We bought new ornaments this year that are glass and pretty, and came in a box with ornament shaped spaces made just for each one. I KEPT the box in the closet and used it to repack the same ornaments. I was so proud of myself, but felt silly telling someone I put ornaments back into the box they came in! I’m so glad you understand LOL

I de-cluttered alot of my decorations this year. Why having all of my storage boxes match ever made since when I purchased them I will n;ever know.UGH but I took red duct tape(cant imagine the world without this fabulous product) and got all of my Christmas ones labeled better. So here I am all giddy over a few 4inch strips of duct tape. Congratulations on getting all your decorations packed up and ready for next year so quickly…that to me…was a really big deal.
