Today I:
Made bed.
Emptied dishwasher.
Swept kitchen. (Just now, at almost 9pm, purely so I could write this post with a clear conscience.)
Checked bathrooms for clutter.
Did concentrated 5 minute pickup. (Again, just now.)
Last night I made lunches, wiped down bathrooms, and put out the boys clothes. I didn’t do laundry because my husband was doing a load so he could have clean socks. He puts all of his dirty socks together in one place, which is a great idea except I never ever think to wash them because they’re not with the rest of the dirty laundry. I’m counting his load as the load for today.
I did all but the making of the bed and emptying of the dishwasher tonight . . . just now. I was gone all day, so it was really the only option. I must admit that I did these tasks while grumbling, and with a few well-placed huffs.
However, now that I’ve done it, I’m so glad I did. It’s nice to know that the living room will start the day tomorrow clutter-free and that all of the basics are done. I’m guessing there are neatfreaks who don’t love getting those few things done at night when they’d rather be chilling. But they do them. So I can too.

I am loving reading through all of your posts from the beginning and relating a lot. I have been Fly-ladying/Konmari-ing this year, but still struggle to not make excuses to not do my daily tasks. Fly lady helps me determine what to focus on each week (with the missions), which is nice, but I must admit hearing that you grumble while completing your checklist (like I do) is more inspiring. I agree that it is amazing what it does for your mood when you’re done, so I keep reminding myself of that as I work. And of course, it never takes as long as I think it will.
