My new non-negotiable for the week

September 27, 2009 By Dana White 26 Comments

I've been thinking a lot about this one. I know what it needs to be, but I don't want to do it. I'm being a bit of a brat about it. For each of the last several weeks I've added one new non-negotiable task. They have all worked so much better than I expected. They have all been easier than I expected, mostly because doing them everyday keeps … [Read more...]

Saturday’s Daily Checklist

September 27, 2009 By Dana White 8 Comments

Made bed.Put dishes in dishwasher throughout the day.Swept in the afternoon.Checked the bathroom counters and floors for clutter.Did five-minute walk-through.I did the bare minimum today. But for me, doing anything on a Saturday is an improvement. I've always resented that there is no such thing as a day off from housework. I need to get over it. … [Read more...]

Watched "Hoarders"

September 27, 2009 By Dana White 20 Comments

This afternoon I watched "Hoarders" on A&E. I had seen the beginning of it a few weeks ago and recorded the episode. It is a show about hoarders who are at the brink of some major crisis because of their hoarding. It isn't an intervention show really, but documents what they are going through. In this episode, there was a young family who … [Read more...]

Daily Checklist

September 26, 2009 By Dana White 1 Comment

I'm later than usual getting this post done since we were up at school this morning and then had a playdate today. The good news is that my very supportive best friend who knows how bad my messiness is was totally impressed with my house. Today I:Made bed. (I've been doing this everyday (except one) for over a month now, so I hope it's a … [Read more...]

Can a Germaphobe be a Slob?

September 25, 2009 By Dana White 67 Comments

I installed a sitemeter about two weeks ago to see if anyone was visiting my blog. It is the coolest thing ever. It tells me how people found my site. I can see how many visits I got from linking up on Tackle it Tuesday, Menu Plan Monday, or wherever. It also tells me if someone found me by a google search. Someone, and I don't know if you're … [Read more...]

The Big Picture . . . and the Small Details

September 24, 2009 By Dana White 8 Comments

I'm working on the office this week. I decluttered the corner on Monday, cleared/organized my desk on Tuesday, was gone all day yesterday, and today is Thursday. I haven't done anything in this room yet. I still may, but it's not guaranteed since in a short while I'll leave to pick up kids from school and then I'm rarely able to focus on one thing … [Read more...]

Multitasking and Making the Dog Happy

September 23, 2009 By Dana White 8 Comments

I love cooking. Raw meat, chicken germs . . . not so much. I like to minimize the number of times I have to completely disinfect my sink after trimming raw chicken. The thought of chicken germs totally grosses me out. As does the thought of eating the fatty/cartilage/membrane stuff that is on the boneless skinless chicken breasts I buy. I know I'm … [Read more...]

My daily checklist has a purpose

September 23, 2009 By Dana White 3 Comments

I've been gone all day. ALL day. So, I sat down here to do my daily checklist. I did well on my morning tasks, such as emptying the dishwasher and sweeping the kitchen. When I sat down just now, I thought to myself "I haven't noticed anything, I'm sure the other areas are fine." Seriously? This is me. Me not noticing things is how this mess … [Read more...]

Done . . . Whew!

September 22, 2009 By Dana White 9 Comments

I did it. I cleaned off my desk. I did NOT feel like it, but I did it. Sometimes when I don't feel like it, I'll get into the mood once I get started. Not this time. I never got into the mood, but I didn't quit. I really sound crabby today, and I'll blame that on Billy Blanks. My thighs are killing me after doing a new tae-bo video this … [Read more...]
