I’m later than usual getting this post done since we were up at school this morning and then had a playdate today. The good news is that my very supportive best friend who knows how bad my messiness is was totally impressed with my house.
Today I:
Made bed. (I’ve been doing this everyday (except one) for over a month now, so I hope it’s a habit.)
Cleaned kitchen.
Swept kitchen.
Did general pickup (way easier when I know someone is coming over).
Checked bathroom floors and counters for clutter.
I’ve been doing this blog for a month now, and although I have a long way to go, I can say that these small daily tasks have made a huge difference.
I’ve heard it takes 28 days to develop a habit. I really hope that’s true.
I’ve been reading through your site backwards (as you suggest) and I just wanted to weigh in here.
I just deleted all the overdue tasks on my chore checklist app. Deleted all the tasks entirely, not just reset them to zero! And added one: Make the bed. I am going to start with my first non-negotiable.
I struggle with depression sometimes, and use my excellent blinders to keep that overwhelmed feeling at bay most days so it doesn’t potentially trigger a spiral, but if the chaos continues to spiral, even those blinders are going to start to fail, and I always feel a little more like a failure when my mother in law swoops in and helps tames it once more.
I had a longer rambling post written, but really this just sums up what I wanted to say.
