Menu Plan Monday – Last Week Reminded Me Why I Have to Do This

I didn’t make a menu plan last week.

Again, I was reminded me of how much of a difference menu-planning makes in our overall home-sanity.  Having a menu plan, especially in these fun-but-unscheduled last days of summer means that we can survive.  I generally have enough to throw together some meals, but if I don’t plan ahead, I invariably am missing one key ingredient for my last minute brainstorm.

This week is our last before school starts, so I’m keeping it simple.

Monday – Steaks and baked potatoes.  (Hubby volunteered to grill, and I’m not going to argue with that.)

Tuesday – Spaghetti

Wednesday – BBQ chicken sandwiches

Thursday – Chicken Stir Fry – A family favorite!

Friday – Out to eat

Saturday – Homemade pizza

Sunday – Grilled hamburgers

Simple as can be.  Out of everything on this list, the only things I need to buy are hamburger buns for the chicken sandwiches and burgers, lettuce.  Not bad!

Check out other menu plans over at orgjunkie.com.

Come On In! – But Stop There, Please

August 16, 2010 By Dana White 1 Comment

50shares 50 0 0 If you rang my doorbell today, I might actually answer it. I might even let you in (if I knew you, of course). All I would have to do is smile and say something funny to distract you while I quickly directed you into the dining room. The dining room looks […]

A Tale of Two Houses: Part 2

August 13, 2010 By Dana White 15 Comments

175shares 169 0 6 Yesterday, I posted what I originally thought was going to be a quirky post about the differences between my own home and that of a close friend of the same age and similar experiences. I was surprised to find myself in tears as I re-told the history of all my moves, […]

August 13, 2010 By Dana White 2 Comments

0shares 0 0 0I know, I know. Such a cheesy title. Anyway, I’ve decided to move Focus Check Friday over to my Blog Frog Community. I could go on and on about how this is a much-considered decision . . . blah blah blah and yada yada yada. But, the real truth is that no […]

August 12, 2010 By Dana White 20 Comments

808shares 786 0 22 Last weekend, the kids spent two nights living it up with my mother-in-law, so we went to dinner with some old college friends of mine, and then saw their new house. They know about the blog.   It only made sense to tell them . . . since they are fully aware […]

How to Get Dried Up Pancake Batter Off of Your Kitchen Counter – A Tip Normal People Don’t Need

August 11, 2010 By Dana White 24 Comments

254shares 153 0 101 Yesterday, as I was doing the massive clean-up from our Kid-Friendly Freezer Cooking Session, I decided that I should share a little tip. I don’t like smelly, chemical-ly cleaners, but often end up having to use them, due to . . . ummm . . . lack of using the less-lethal-stuff […]

The Dark Side of Freezer Cooking Day: Clean Up

August 10, 2010 By Dana White 13 Comments

14shares 0 0 14Some people can’t go to sleep if their kitchens aren’t clean.  I’ve always felt strangely jealous of them. This is what my kitchen looked like when I went to bed last night . . . . and I slept like a baby. The Dark Side of Freezer Cooking is that while I […]

Freezer Cooking: A Fun Day in the Kitchen With the Kids

August 9, 2010 By Dana White 13 Comments

185shares 38 0 147 I’m calling today’s freezer cooking adventure with the kids a success. Even though it’s also Laundry Day today. Even though it was universally decided last night that after nine whole years of never having had a real birthday party, today was the day that our dog MUST have one, which means […]

What Can I Accomplish in Five Minutes?

August 8, 2010 By Dana White 10 Comments

558shares 549 0 9 I’ve been putting off working on my laundry room because: It has a door that closes, and therefore falls waaaayyyyy farther down on the list than things that can easily be seen. Compared to how it was before I got my laundry routine under control, it’s not that bad.  I mean, […]
