Friday is my son’s birthday party. He’ll be 7 next Monday.
I throw parties every other year for my kids, and while I do enjoy the stress-free “off” years, I looovvveee the “on” years more.
While I don’t really shine in the area of housekeeping, party-throwing is right up my alley.
My mind gets going with ideas, and I love it. And, of course, in the excitement and busy-ness, unimportant things like . . . . doing dishes and picking up clutter get pushed to the bottom of the priority list.
Yesterday, I started noticing that I was tripping over more things than usual, and so this morning, I took a short amount of time to go through my daily checklist, carrying it around in my hand. Relying on memory when my mind is filled with more interesting things like how to make a lightsaber cake . . . isn’t a good idea.
And, as a lover-of-strange-but-interesting things, I was happy that my decision to keep my mannequin was justified today. He’ll be playing the part of Darth Vader at the entrance to the party.
I’m debating over pants.
And yes, I do have slight heart attacks every time I walk through the living room. Thanks for asking.

Hi, I came across this article which really helped me see the difference between crisis cleaning (goal) and having a clean home (system). Daily Checklist is a system! Working my way to present day. Your thoughts on cleaning have really helped me start to act, rather than be confused/overwhelmed about cleaning. Thankyou.
