Summer vacation is here! Along with a lack of routine come the delusions that I’ll have SO MUCH TIME to get things done! After many years of finding myself frustrated that this magical “free time” wasn’t as productive as I assumed it would be, I figured out what I was doing wrong and what to do to make progress I was happy with.

Decluttering without Making A Bigger Mess

Dana, I found you about 2 months ago through an interview on a different podcast. I have been listening to you EVERY morning since. THANK YOU for all your helpful perspective shift ideas and decluttering tips. I thought I was just lazy and if I worked hard enough I could be like others I know…you’ve helped me drop that nonsense and see my brain is just different- not lazy. I have made incredible strides (for me) in our home and can’t wait to keep going. You’ve changed my life. God is using your practical gifts for freeing others. Thank you again. (Hoping to start one of your books this summer).

Dana,
Have a great summer “off” (are mothers actually ever off?!). I have declared this summer my summer of decluttering, but at a slower pace than I normally would. I would normally start in my bedroom and pound through as much as I could till I dropped, but I’m going to take your advice and start with whats visible. Starting at my front door and working my way in.
My brain is not the creative type, I need schedules to function, so I have started putting my summer cleaning schedule together so I can get decluttering done, house cleaning done and still have time to float in the pool with my daughter and hang out at night with friends.
Thank you for all your suggestions you have made through the years! Even for in the box thinkers like me (whose house is still never under control) it helps us realize it’s ok and there’s solutions out there to help us!

Hi Dana,
Do you have a transcript of your podcast, so I can read it instead of listening to it?
