You really never do know what the value of something will be. I have a huge collection of Barbies – hundreds- I still love, but want to pare down. However, the collectible market is really not that great.
My husband is in the same boat with his classic video games. You’d think he’d be in the same boat, especially with downloadable classics being available on the different platforms. However, he has sold the most valuable portions of his collection – one single game going for $500.
You just don’t know until you do the research.
Another example – if I wanted to get rid of my Steinway piano – which was supposed to appreciate in value – it would be a challenge, because most people want electric keyboards. In fact, many people have to PAY to have their (less valuable) pianos disposed of. 😪
