March Decluttering Report

It’s the end of March.

How exactly did that happen?

Since it’s Friday, I’ll go ahead and report on my decluttering efforts for the month even though there’s a whole day left.  (If I happen to declutter something tomorrow, I’ll add it to next month’s report.)

My decluttering progress:

I JUST DECLUTTERED in the boys’ room.  No organizing, and not even any real cleaning . . .  just decluttering.  And the difference was rather impressive. The difference in the spot I worked on.  I haven’t tackled any more spots since then.

With spring break and then an extra-busy week this week . . . the only other decluttering project I tackled was my master bedroom.

But really . . . . it was a doozy. And kind of counts as a double or triple project.

And I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night without stubbing my toe.

As much.

How did you do this month?  If you wrote about your own decluttering progress for March, please leave a link to that post in the comments!

I already told my kids that we would be making some keep/donate toy choices when they are on spring break this week. Here’s hoping it happens because they both have birthdays in April and this needs to be done.

    How did I do?

I don’t know, really. I have tons of books waiting to be sorted and sold…and my donation station is full, somehow, but I’ve been organizing and prettifying more than decluttering. Wait until I get to tackling my master bedroom, though. There’s a prime spot for decluttering!

I discovered a store that pays cash for clothes so I finally did some serious closet decluttering, always a fun thing because it’s nice to get rid of clothes that are now too big for me 🙂

Nony, I just have to share this story with you. I consider myself teetering somewhere between a slob and a normal person, depending on what’s happening in my life. I really didn’t think I would need to read your ebook because I’m really not “that” challenged but having enjoyed your blog since it’s beginning, wanted to show my support. I purchased your book and began reading. Well, as life happens so often when little ones are under foot – I was pulled away before having a chance to finish. I did manage to read up to page nine before disaster struck and got the dishes message loud and clear. A couple of days later, I had finished making lunch for my family. All but a few items were in the dishwasher. I though perhaps I should save the pans until later as I knew I wouldn’t need them to make supper and why do dishes twice? Your voice popped into my brain and told me to just do them right then and there. You know, it took me longer to fill up the sink than to wash, dry and put away those dishes! The reason it took so long to fill the sink was because my perception of what needed to be done was so much more than the reality. I had to laugh at myself. It was certainly an ah-ha moment brought to me by you! Thanks for that 🙂

Got rid of a ton of garbage this month from closets, cabinets, drawers, garage and junk room with you and Simple Mom behind me! Consigned all the baby toys, some baby gear and tons of clothes at a community event called Just Between Friends this week… sale finishes up tomorrow and I’ve already made $215 off my unwanted stuff! The rest gets donated, so that I don’t have to worry about the clutter again.

Not as far as I wanted to be, but much further than I was this time before. Looking forward to April.

I gave a glider/rocker to a mommy-to-be, donated a white trash bag full of clothes to our church, another grocery store bag of clothes to a friend’s children, box of random stuff, box of magazines to the school, box of books to a friend, pile of stuff out of the yard to the dump, and a number of boxes of paper.

This week is spring break. I’m hoping to get a good bit done. We shall see.

This post has links to what I got done. Now I’m not just a hoarder, but an organized one.

I don’t know if I decluttered, as much as just delt with things I had put off.
Put away some new hats & socks & a bag.
And a Bulk pack of T.P. I used these tasks that took 15 minutes as motivation to do before going outside with the kiddos, and had a kid helper by me to pick up trash or put little things away as I went.
