Daily Checklist and 2nd Week of Weekly Tasks

Today I:

Closed cabinet doors.

Made bed.

Emptied dishwasher.

Made to-do list.

Cleaned up kitchen.

Did 5 minute pickup.

Started a load of laundry.

Checked bathrooms for clutter.

Last night I:

Wiped down bathrooms.

Put out clothes for the boys.

Made lunches.

Loaded and started dishwasher.

As for weekly tasks, I got on track today after a 4-day weekend. Last week, I decided to make Tuesdays my day to clean bathrooms. Since I’d wiped down the counters and toilets for the last two nights, it was like having a headstart in the cleaning process.

I worked on the other details like the mirror and the bathtub. Even though I had wiped down the toilet less than 12 hours before, I used this time to do deep cleaning. You know, getting down and dirty to try to find all of those places that you wouldn’t think pee could get to . . . but it can. (The kind of cleaning that requires a hot shower immediately after.)

The two bathrooms that I’ve been better about cleaning, meaning the ones that people see, were pretty easy. The kids’ bath and the 1/2 bath just needed some extra TLC to feel like they were truly “clean.” But the master bathroom, being inside the forbidden master bedroom, needs a lot of work. The inside of the bathtub stays pretty clean, but it’s edges were pretty dusty and nasty. I shined it up, and was amazed at the difference it made in the feel of the entire bathroom.

The shower is scary. It has a glass door, which I’m pretty sure is supposed to be cloudy glass, but I really can’t remember. The soap scum on it provides its own “texture” that isn’t pretty. I scrubbed the top half really well, and then decided that I’d work on the bottom half next week. Lame, I know.

In reality, the master bathroom needs its own status as a 2-day project. Since I currently don’t have two days to spend on it, I’m hoping that spending some time on it every Tuesday will eventually get it in shape.

Decisions, Decisions

19shares 18 1 0 First of all, I think my camera really is dying. But even out of focus, you get the picture. I’m really starting to resent this surface. This is the surface right inside the door we come in all the time. I’ve found pretty good solutions for the shoes and coats everywhere, […]

How Contentment and Housekeeping are Related

February 15, 2010 By Dana White 4 Comments

285shares 258 0 27 I’ve had this post going through my head for a day and a half. Ideas for a post about being discontent with my home were racing through my head as I spent the entire afternoon cleaning to get ready for home-groups tonight. But now, sitting in my pretty-much-presentable house, I’m feeling […]

Menu Plan Monday

February 15, 2010 By Dana White 1 Comment

0shares 0 0 0After the craziness of Snow Day + Natural Weekend Chaos, I’m ready to get some control over this house again. Although today is a holiday for the kids (translation – another day of no routine for mama) menu planning will help me get there. Monday – French Dip Sandwiches for our Family […]

Powerless

February 12, 2010 By Dana White 3 Comments

1share 1 0 0Today is a snow day. We don’t get many around here, so it’s pretty exciting. And this one was a real one, meaning enough snow to make a snowman and have some great snowball fights. Yesterday afternoon, the power went out, and was out for about 9 hours. It was a lot […]

All Those Interlocking Pieces

February 11, 2010 By Dana White 11 Comments

220shares 210 0 10 I hate puzzles. I know that “hate” is a strong word, but it’s pretty much how I feel. I’m an intelligent person. I was high school salutatorian, and did fine in college despite having a lot of fun. But puzzles make me feel dumb. My brain just doesn’t work that way. […]

1share 0 0 1Made bed. Ran dishwasher (Didn’t run it last night since it wasn’t quite full. Probably should have because it was completely full after breakfast.) Swept kitchen. Made to do list. Supper in a Hurry – Quesadillas

February 10, 2010 By Dana White 8 Comments

118shares 20 0 98 Crazy day today. I’ve swept the kitchen, and that’s about it. I have to say that I’m thankful for a 3yo little girl who happily says “Sure!” when I ask if she can make it to one more store before her nap time. My oldest would act like it was child […]

I LOVE a Shiny Toilet!

February 9, 2010 By Dana White 7 Comments

1share 1 0 0I love clean bathrooms. Sparkly ones. Ones with no grime in the corners or rings in the toilet. If this is your first time here, and you’re doing research on slobs, this probably seems strange to you. I can’t tell you how it makes my buttcheeks squeeze together when I hear someone […]
