Daily CHecklist

Saturday.

The day routine goes out the window. This is the best and the worst thing about Saturday. It’s nice to relax, spend time together, get things done that just don’t fit into the schedule of the week.

However, I tend to neglect any mundane routine on the weekends. Things such as laundry, dishes, kitchen cleanup, etc just pile up for Monday. This is something that has to change with my new way of doing things.

The beauty of today is that there were barely any dishes to put into the dishwasher. There was just a little trash to throw away. There were just a few cups on the kitchen table. In the past, I would have enjoyed the fact that there were “just a few” by ignoring them. The reality is that it took me less than 5 minutes to make the kitchen look nice. Wow. 5 minutes.

Checklist:

Made bed.

cleaned up kitchen.

Swept kitchen.

Go me!

Friday!

September 4, 2009 By Dana White 7 Comments

I love Fridays. I don’t cook on Friday nights. I’ve always loved Fridays because if I clean my kitchen, it stays clean for almost 24 hours! This Friday is the best though, because it has been clean for two weeks now, and I even cleared the other corner’s pile today so I’m pretty sure […]

Aaaahhhh

September 3, 2009 By Dana White 9 Comments

My kitchen isn’t small, but most of the time my workspace is. My decent-sized counter is usually completely cluttered at each end, leaving just a small amount of space between the stove and the sink. Somehow, in my mind this is justified. One side is for snacks, and the phone sits on the other side, […]

This is why I have this Blog

September 2, 2009 By Dana White 20 Comments

I just looked at the time on this post. I’m learning that blogger puts the time on the post as the time you start writing it. Normally annoying, but this time I’m glad. I sat down to write my daily checklist, with the desire to be brutally honest about not having accomplished much today. Then […]

OVERWHELMING task – Done in less than 10 minutes

September 1, 2009 By Dana White 13 Comments

My first Tackle it Tuesday! This is right up my alley. Motivation to do the things that don’t get done otherwise. It is my goal for the week to get three clutter areas cleared. So then there will only be sixty or seventy more to go. Ha ha ha. I’m not kidding. Look at […]

Daily Checklist

September 1, 2009 By Dana White 7 Comments

Made Bed. Emptied Dishwasher. Washed pots that soaked overnight. Swept kitchen. Put in load of laundry. It was an automatic thought that I didn’t need to sweep the kitchen because I did it yesterday and it looked fine. However, yesterday it was a big job, and today it was a tiny job. My goal is […]

Breakthrough – Early Rising

September 1, 2009 By Dana White 25 Comments

I actually have tears in my eyes. Thankfully, no one reads this blog, so there’s no reason to be embarrassed. I got my first comment! I know it’s from Laura, who runs Menu Plan Monday and comments on all first timers, but it’s exciting! I really think I’ve had a breakthrough. I knew I needed […]
