The Master Bedroom Saga Part SIX: Clutter is Gone(ish), It’s Time to Clean!

Time for another post in the Master Bedroom Saga!

I know.  I missed putting one up last week.  So here’s my excuse (insert 31 Days of Excuses plug here):  I was busy.  And life trumps blogging.

But now I’m back with a new post and webisode in the series.  If you’re new, you should probably catch up by reading (and watching) posts one, two, three, four, and five in the series.

I know.  That’s a lot of posts.  And this isn’t even the last one.

Here’s what I wrote in my journal about this project:

(Please note that even though this is Part Six in the series, the individual days were very long and so this cleaning was done on Day Three. Confusing enough?)

I took yesterday off.  Now to try to remember everything from Day Three.  Basically, I cleaned.  Like crazy.  I fully plan to write a post called, “How to Dust when Your Home Could Pass for a Haunted House.”I moved things.  I grunted.  I took down my curtains that had never been taken down in the six years we lived here.

I remembered to change clothes in the bathroom since the curtains weren’t there.

I washed those curtains and then as I pulled them out of the washing machine, realized how much I hated their color and style.

Hmmmm.  That was interesting.

I never “minded them” too much before.  But there’s something about the act of putting them back up that feels wronger (yes, I said wronger) than just “leaving them up.”

Not quite sure what I’m going to do about that.  I like the plain look of my blackout curtains.

So much simpler.

I am now washing (slowly, but surely . . . hopefully*) the many, many blankets that are in a huge pile on the floor.

Other than that and two teeny spots I still need to tackle (why are teeny spots harder to conquer than big spots?), I need to move around some furniture and I think I’ll be done with the clearing part.

Then comes the part that scares me to death.

The putting back.

Honestly, I’ve loved my almost-completely-empty room for the past two days.

Empty of EVERYthing.  Hubby likes it too.  Strangely, we haven’t missed a thing in two days.

Proof that none of it is necessary for living.

None.

None of it.

Hmmmm.

*It’s now more-than-a-month later . . . and I still haven’t plowed through that pile of blankets.  I have no legit excuse.  Just wanted to be honest.

But I have been thoroughly enjoying my clutter-free and CLEAN master bedroom.

Just a few days left to vote for me over at Circle of Moms!

Catching Up on Some Excuses

October 20, 2012 By Dana White 8 Comments

7shares 3 0 4 I’m behind on my (lame) excuse posts. Sorry. I missed Thursday because I was out most of the day, and couldn’t find a moment to write.  I missed Friday because I was putting up a post about my new appliances from Maytag.  And I really couldn’t come up with a way […]

My New Maytag Appliances!

October 19, 2012 By Dana White 7 Comments

39shares 10 0 29 Last week, something incredible happened.  It involved opening my front door. It also involved bringing people in (whom I’d never met before) and letting them look at, in, and around my kitchen. But it’s okay because . . . my new appliances from Maytag were delivered!!  Yes, I’m crazy-excited about being […]

Excuse #752 It’s ALL NONY’S FAULT

October 17, 2012 By Dana White 4 Comments

39shares 36 0 3 Today, I’m publishing a comment left by one of you as a guest post.  Slob with OCD wrote this If-You-Give-a-Mouse-a-Cookie-esque comment a few days ago, and it tickled me so much I wanted to feature it!   If it weren’t for Nony . . . I wouldn’t have been hand washing […]

(Lame) Excuse: “But I Don’t Have a Nail . . . “

October 16, 2012 By Dana White 2 Comments

3shares 2 0 1 I almost changed the title to “But I Lost the Nail . . . ” Except that’s actually true. And the point of this post (as it was being written inside my head yesterday) is that my excuse isn’t really an excuse. This time, it’s a lie. I’d been telling myself […]

(Lame) Excuse: “But It’s Just ONE Load . . . “

October 15, 2012 By Dana White 7 Comments

90shares 88 0 2 It’s Monday.  Sooooo, obviously . . . it’s Laundry Day. The best/smoothest/make-me-feel-like-I’ve-got-this-homemaker-thing-down Laundry Days begin on Sunday evening. So last night we gathered and sorted last week’s dirty clothes and I started a load of towels. (Towels are my favorite Sunday Night Start Load because I can put them in the […]

(Lame) Excuse: “But It Doesn’t Fit in the Dishwasher . . . “

October 14, 2012 By Dana White 12 Comments

52shares 50 0 2   This goes along with my post from last week.  Actually, I took the pictures on the same night. See . . . in my mind there’s doing the dishes. And then there’s doing the big dishes. For some reason, they’re two separate things. Even though they’re not. Because even if […]

No Excuse to Not Help Raise Money for Cancer Research!

October 13, 2012 By Dana White 4 Comments

4shares 2 0 2 I really love working with the North Texas Chevy Dealers as a Chevy Girl.  All of their promotions are fun and easy to blog about. But this one is easiest of all because it’s for an important cause.  And they have helped eliminate any and all excuses to not help! October […]

(Lame) Excuse: “But it’s a Hassle . . . “

October 12, 2012 By Dana White 16 Comments

52shares 37 0 15 When my oldest was between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 (I know because we were living in our rent house), he came to me with some exciting news. He had figured out something cool. Something that would surely be a new and exciting revelation to his mother. Because […]
