In this episode, Emma and I discuss:
- What to do when you have reached your clutter threshold but feel like you could do more.
- How to deal with storing items of a loved one.
- How to fit decluttering and maintenance cleaning in during the week when working.
I also loved hearing how Emma has implemented some of the same routines that have worked in her home in her classroom with her students!

Dear Dana,
I’ve been following you for years and have made great strides, adopting a decluttering lifestyle in small increments. The other day I was chatting with my 30 year old son on the phone, apologizing for the mess he’d grown up in. He says he doesn’t remember it. He only recalls the organized person I became. Your simple strategies were a huge piece of the puzzle. So encouraging, right? Thank you, friend.
Now for my question. My mother passed away last year. I’ve become the family historian. I’ve spent the past year digitizing, dating, and commenting on all the family photos and slides. Check. That’s done. But now comes the hard stuff– figuring out what to do about all the letters and notes Mom took. It takes time to read through all of these things and then what to do with them? My kids are not at an age when they appreciate family history. In fact, I wasn’t interested either until the last two years. Do you have any profound insight on this topic?
Grateful,
Jacqui
