I listened to this podcast… while folding laundry! 🙂
26 years ago, I read some book on organization. I don’t remember the title or the author and I only remember one thing from the book: “Don’t put anything down (in the wrong place) just for now”. I think that is why your “fold out of the dryer” advice works so well. I don’t end up putting the laundry on the loveseat or the bed or in a laundry basket “just for now” with the intention of coming back to it “later”.
Okay… I do take the laundry to the bedroom and put it on the bed and a chair. But I tell myself that it is not negotiable and I have to fold and put it away… and can’t leave it “for now” and come back to it “later”. Ugh. So much of my slobbiness has come from the intention of doing x,y or z “later”.
I’ve reconciled being “inefficient” by using a pedometer on my phone and being happy about getting extra steps. 🙂
