Spilled milk.
Spilled by me.
The kind of thing that would sometimes send me right over the edge.
But it’s okay. Today, I’m finally home. All day. Which is good since I had a freelance gig with a tight deadline due.
The house isn’t exactly clean, but as hubby was leaving this morning he said something like . . . “Don’t worry about it” when I lamented that it probably wouldn’t look any better tonight when he got home.
I’ve mentioned many times that he’s very understanding of my issues. But more than that, he’s supportive. He’s excited for me to have creative opportunities, and if a messy house is what that costs, he’s good with it. (To a point, of course.)
I can’t even express how grateful I am for that freedom. And I’m also a little extra adoring of him because I just edited my next webisode . . . starring him.
Hee hee. I laughed all through the editing process, and heard myself laughing all through the video itself.
Tomorrow, I’ll share the video.
Today, I just mopped up the milk. Since . . . it’s a detail.

Once again you make me chuckle. You handle so lightheartedly things that can truly send your day into a frenzy. Why does spilled milk make us cringe so? (Probably because cleaning it entails way more than it does for those naturally neaties!)

Good for you! I found your blog recently and am enjoying reading your past entries. Today I finally, FINALLY, loaded our old wicker furniture that has been buried in our basement for a least 2 years, and took it to a goodwill type place. I called my girl friend to help (we needed both cars) and in the blink of an eye I was finally rid of that stressor. And I started going through the mess that is my master bedroom. I have been shredding old bills and receipts for longer than I care to think about. Along with putting away paper work that we need to keep.

I don’t understand the “details” thing. Isn’t EVERYTHING a detail? So what are you doing differently for this details challenge? I mean, it’s not like you would have left spilled milk on the floor before, and now you are cleaning it up because you are paying attention to details…right?
I think I need clarification 🙂

Ummmm, it’s mostly a detail because I wrote the post in a hurry to write something today, and then remembered that it’s the 31 Days of Details.
But honestly, I MIGHT have been known . . . in the past . . . to just throw a towel down on it to soak it up, and then leave it for later.

Oh, haha, that’s what happened to me yesterday. Spilled milk right next to the fridge.

In all honesty, I have been known to place a paper towel over a spill & let it soak up(you know,to make it easier for me to clean up later)only to walk over & around it all day untill my hubby comes home & picks it up & says how long has this been here(hanging head in shame)
I guess to some people, everything is a detail. In my house just getting the basics done is hard some days. I don’t always have time to do a deep clean(which is what I consider a detail) I don’t always have time to dust all the stuff on the shelves or windex the tv screens or picture frames. I guess we all have our own idea of what a “detail” means. Thats why I like this blog,we get a different perspective of things & get to share ideas & tips,& just laugh at our selves.

Slob Scenario- Small spill. Drop towel on top, vaguely swish it around (really, only because it’s hardwoood floor). Leave it there for some type of child screaming noise I hear in another room. Walk by it like 100 times (blech, bending over is so irritating, besides it’s dry now!) . Finally pick it up several or more days later.
Slob Trying Harder To Focus Scenario- !@#$%^. Get cleaner. Get wipes. Clean spill immediately and splashes all over sides of everything. Ignore all screaming until done. Actually check from different lighting angles for missed spots. Dry everything with paper towel. Probably… leave cleaner bottle, rag and paper towel tossed about and consider it a job well done.
