If you’re a regular reader, you know I’m scared of trying to organize for fear of failure. It doesn’t do a lot of good to come up with a big and complicated plan if you aren’t going to use it.
So I’m learning to think “simple.” A shoe shelf right by the door where everyone takes off their shoes anyway. Coat hooks in the exact spot where coats seem to pile up on the floor anyway.
I’m very excited that so far, this is actually working. The kids like having their very own coat hooks. The shoes don’t automatically end up in the shelf, but it’s so much easier to clean up the space when there’s a place for them. No longer do I have to stare at a huge pile of shoes and think, “So what do I do with all of these?”
The shoe shelf has been up for about a month, so it has proven itself. I finally installed the coat hooks last week, and so far . . . so good.

Ooh! I love it when a plan works … especially if it has to do with organizing.
What a great idea for the shoe shelf! I'm needing something like that b/c we seem to have (ok I seem to have) a pile of my shoes by the front door at all times. Thanks for teh idea!
Great plan! I do the same thing. Looking at a space and howit's being used and making it even more functional.
I wish I had the space for that.
Love the little initial hooks. So cute!
I love that idea! I have something similar only smaller…it only fits about 4 pairs of shoes. I would LOVE to have a tall one like that! Cool!
love those hooks! cute idea!
