Menu Plan Monday

Back to Menu Planning! After a week of no routine, it’s important to plan the menu so I don’t waste the things in the fridge that I thought I would make last week, but didn’t because there wasn’t a plan.

And if you’re having a little brain-freeze trying to plan a menu, I’ll give my best piece of advice.

Ask your husband what he’d like.

I did this a few weeks ago when I was feeling uninspired, and he immediately rattled off three things that are some of our favorites but I hadn’t made in a while. So, the burden was off of me to come up with ideas, and he was happy too!

Monday – Chicken Stir Fry over rice

Tuesday – Spaghetti with homemade breadsticks (I’m planning to make a ham/egg/cheese version of the breakfast pockets I made a few weeks ago, so I’ll save some of the dough for breadsticks).

Wednesday – Tator tot casserole

Thursday – Chicken cooked in the crockpot with Italian dressing, served over rice. (I’ll cook extra rice on both Monday and Thursday, and should have enough left over to make chicken fried rice next week.)

Friday – Eat out

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – a freezer meal

Do any of you have a great Sunday lunch recipe? We’re eating at home for lunch on Sundays more now, and I would like to start having real meals, instead of just sandwiches. We’re looking for things that cook while we’re at church and are ready when you get home. I’m thinking crockpot type things that cook in 3-4 hours.

Daily Checklist – Laundry Day

Things are getting back to normal around here now that the boys are back in school. I’m so sad to not have them home, but I’m making the best of today and trying to get the house back in order.

Since last week was spring break, and we left at 10 a.m. Monday morning, I had a fantastic excuse to ignore laundry. But thankfully, with my new mindset that MONDAY IS LAUNDRY DAY, LIKE IT OR NOT, I did my best to do three basic loads before we left, starting on Sunday night, and so this week wasn’t the insanity that it could have been. In fact, it’s noon, and I only have one more load to go. Go me!

I have spent more time folding and putting away since I didn’t complete that with last week’s loads. So the morning has pretty much been ONLY laundry. I am really looking forward to having the loveseat (laundry mountain) back. I’m always amazed that even though my selective vision doesn’t register the pile of clothes on that piece of furniture, it does register that the removal of them makes the entire room look better.

Today I:

Emptied dishwasher.

Cleaned kitchen.

Did a general pickup.

Worked on laundry.

Last night I:

Made lunches.

Put out clothes for boys.

I’m definitely not back to the full checklist, but even those few things made a big difference. My plan for the rest of the day is to completely finish (including putting away) all laundry, and to tackle one more small space in the master bedroom.

Oh, and another thing I did was to go to swagbucks and order a 5$ paypal for 550 swagbucks. They’re normally 700, but they’re on sale today through Wednesday (I think). While I was there I went ahead and posted my last several amazon giftcard codes to my amazon account. I now have a $40.51 balance in my Amazon account. I’m saving up to hopefully buy Rockband for the family next Christmas. Every time I hit 450 swagbucks, I go order another 5$ amazon giftcard. All of the swagbucks links in this paragraph go to my swagbucks referral link, but if you’d like to know more about how it works, you can read my explanation here. (And then use one of the links in THAT post to sign up under me!)
