Daily Checklist for my crazy cleaning day

I am seriously exhausted.

Today I:

Made bed. (Just a note that I got up reaaalllly early because I couldn’t sleep, and when I went back in after my husband was up, I totally noticed how awful the bed looked unmade. Huge step for me!)

Emptied dishwasher.

Made lunches because I forgot to last night.

Cleaned up kitchen.

Swept kitchen.

Picked up living room (big job as there was so much more to pick up than I thought)

Swept out all the corners and crevices of living room and halls and entryway.

Took the dustpole thingy and dusted all the picture-frame paneling molding on the walls (1st time in 3 years).

Pounded pillows.

Picked off dustbunnies that had fallen from the walls onto the furniture.

Moved rug that had slid way off-center.

Moved furniture into the right places (wood floors, energetic children, and a mom who doesn’t consistently straighten mean the furniture can get TOTALLY out of whack)

Wiped down/disinfected bathrooms.

Scrubbed down walls and floors of bathroom (on hands and knees thank you).

Go me!

    GO, YOU!!!

I just started reading your posts, and you deserve to have a comment for this one. That is an incredible amount of work for one day. Not to mention, it's wonderful that you've already gotten enough "into" decluttering that you noticed the dust bunnies.

    Great going!

so your comment how awful the bed looked unmade… I do that every day if I dont make bed right away … I do right as i noticed and even all the clutter on dressers looks better 😉

I’m going to comment on this one even though it may seem out of place because I don’t want to forget where I was! I have been trying to do better and not beat myself up about my house anymore. I’m trying to focus smaller and celebrate smaller victories. My first non negotiable has been the mail stack. Junk mail MUST be gone the same day it arrives. No more piling! But last night I was annoyed by even that! How long do you think it takes to feel like these little things are the rule instead of the exception?

Thank you so much for sharing your HONEST decluttering and cleaning struggles. I watch a few decluttering channels on YouTube, yours is one, and one of them feels like I have to pick through all the ‘buy this’ nonsense to get to the helpful tips. Your ‘where is the first place I would look for this item’ immediately followed by ‘then take it there now’ has been life changing. I found myself saying it to myself and others and now most of my family knows that statement but more important they DO it. Thank you! I’m reading through your blog as suggested but I’ve watched a lot of your videos already.
