Whew! That was a crazy weekend with my son’s birthday party, and then a fun-packed day today. It’s the kind of weekend that makes my slob-vision flare up. Focus on the fun . . . and the clutter in my peripheral vision blurs.
Thankfully, my husband has cleaned the kitchen this weekend.
More than once.
Probably more than three times.
When I saw those bowls stacked above, somehow I was moved to take a picture. Partly because I’m a slob-blogger and slob-bloggers take pictures of their dishes, partly because I just think they’re so pretty, and partly because I wanted to honor him. He has been so supportive in my attempts to change, and although he couldn’t help but be skeptical in the early days, he is now fully on board.
And those gorgeous bowls represent progress to me. My brother and his wife gave them to me last Christmas, and I loved them so much, and was far enough along in this deslobification process, that I chose to let them replace all of our mismatched mixing bowls that were cluttering up the cabinets. Pre-blog, I would have just added them to the ones we had . . . . using the additional set to justify going longer between dishwashing-sessions.
But finally, I was ready to replace mediocre things with beautiful things. And seeing them all sitting there, clean, gave me hope that someday . . . I’ll be ready for more beautiful things.
