Menu Plan Monday – The "What’s on Sale?" Edition

I know that every week should be planned around what’s on sale, but I’ve been falling off the smart-shopper-wagon lately.

Since coupon-ing isn’t really fitting into my schedule this year, the cupboards are not as well stocked as I like them to be.  And . . . . when our local newspaper subscription ran out, we didn’t renew it since I’m not going to garage sales like I used to.  The only problem is that the paper was also my source for local store ads.  The ads can be found online, but that means I have to think ahead enough to actually check them.

Thankfully, there’s the motivation of Menu Plan Monday.  So here goes, our mostly chicken menu for the week . . . . because that’s what’s on sale.

Monday – Baked Chicken Breasts and Baked Potatoes (I’m planning to cook all of the chicken breasts.)

Tuesday – Chicken Fried Rice

Wednesday – Chicken and Black Bean tacos

Thursday – Chicken casserole

Friday – I’m in a show, and hubby’s prepping for a school event while keeping the kids, so I’m guessing we’ll grab various things.

Saturday – Potato Soup (Didn’t have it this week due to a fun, impromptu family get-together.)

Sunday – Home groups.

Here’s hoping hubby’s in the mood for chicken!

I’ll be linking this up to Menu Plan Monday over at Orgjunkie.com.

How to Hang Your Shower Curtain Up to Dry

February 18, 2011 By Dana White 7 Comments

51shares 42 0 9 Ummmm . . . . just hang it up. Like, in the shower. Y’know, where it goes. I washed my shower curtain this week. I’m thinking that the fact that I experienced a few moments of oh-where-am-I-going-to-hang-this-big-old-thing-up-to-dry-where-it-won’t-be-in-the-way-and-knowing-me-I’ll-end-up-leaving-it-there-for-months panic . . . means that I have issues. I knew that, but this […]

Daily Checklist and a Success Report

February 18, 2011 By Dana White 2 Comments

1share 0 1 0Today was busy.  I’m trying to write quickly before running out to pick up kids and head to the park.  But, I: Made bed. Emptied dishwasher. Did a 5 minute pick-up.  Dusted. (Because it’s Friday.) Vacuumed.  (Because it’s Friday.) Go me!  And I have to report that after two weeks of being […]

So, Does This Mean I’m a Grown-Up Now?

February 17, 2011 By Dana White 21 Comments

158shares 117 0 41 I recently bought a set of storage canisters for my flour, sugar, etc. Somehow, this makes me feel like a real woman.  When I first set up house, I thought I was too good for Tupperware.  Not Tupperware in general (I actually sold it for a while after college and was […]

Round Steak Crock Pot Recipe

February 16, 2011 By Dana White 8 Comments

1.5Kshares 246 0 1.2KCreative title, huh?  I’m not feeling terribly inspired in these few moments that I have between getting home from a crazy day out, and leaving to pick up the boys from school, so I thought I’d post the recipe for round steak in the crock pot that several of you recently requested. […]

Daily Checklist 2/16/11

February 16, 2011 By Dana White 1 Comment

2shares 0 0 2Ummm, yeah . . . . not much of a checklist today.  After a week of sickness followed by two weeks of Snow Days falling on Wednesdays, we had our first crazy Bible-Study-Dance-Class-all-in-one-day Wednesday in a while.  I: Made bed.  Emptied dishwasher (that I ran yesterday morning because I forgot to run […]

It’s Not Clutter If I Use It

February 15, 2011 By Dana White 40 Comments

1.4Kshares 1.3K 1 88 I have boxes and boxes filled with random stuff. Most of the time, it’s because I just don’t know what to do with it. I hate to get rid of something that brings back a special memory.  Even though I only experience the memory when I run across it in a […]

Daily Checklist 2/15/11

February 15, 2011 By Dana White 2 Comments

1share 1 0 0I’m still in my jammies, because it’s been a busy morning.  Not run-around-town busy, just oh-my-I-have-so-much-to-do-at-home-and-you-want-me-to-add-what? busy. I was blessed to be able to help someone out by editing an article for them.  An article with a deadline of . . . today.  Which meant that I had to turn on the […]

Ten Reasons I Like to Exercise at Home

February 14, 2011 By Dana White 11 Comments

1share 0 0 1I thought about titling this post: Ten Reasons I Prefer to Exercise at Home, but then realized that I’ve never really worked out in a gym, so I can’t compare.  I’ve had memberships a few times . . . 10.  I’ve never been successful working out in a gym.  I just don’t […]
