Contradictions

contradictions in my decluttering deslobification journey at ASlobComesClean.com

I’m taking a few days off from blogging this week to spend time with my family for Spring Break.

I’ve scheduled posts for most days based on random pictures I’ve taken.

Yes, that’s a pumpkin.

Yes, that’s a pumpkin being washed in a sink.

Yes, I am able to think through (in an instant) all of the places where that pumpkin may have been, all of the un-washed hands that may have touched that pumpkin, and the fact that a knife blade touching the skin of the pumpkin would only spread any unseen nastiness to the inside of the pumpkin as it sliced through.

No.  I do not seem to be able to think through all of the repercussions of placing a dirty cup on the coffee table on my way to the kitchen instead of taking it with me all the way to the room where it goes . . . . and where I am already going.

No. In that moment, it does not occur to me that while I’m getting out of bearing that 3 oz. weight for the next 15 seconds, I’m adding more work for myself in the near (or far) future.

Don’t worry.  It doesn’t make any sense to me either.

If you're me, you would've set the pumpkin on the kitchen table. Then, after washing everyone's hands, you make a snack for dds, and place it on said table. After the girls are half-way done you realize the raisins that fell on the table, and already consummed, might be tainted. But by that point they've been exposed. Contemplating odd looks from Drs after you request a stomach pump, you sigh and pray they don't get something bad. Yeah, I have issues too.

OH MY GOSH, are you my twin?!!!! I have searched the world over for someone that can understand my reasoning and I may have found you!!! I do the same thing. I place things all around the house, instead of taking them to the correct spot, EVEN if that's where i'm going. I'm horrible about setting them on the table which is two feet away from the sink it needed to go into! I just carry crap from room to room, or rearrange clutter in my disorganized house. Yet my fridge, pantry and cabinets are NEVER out of place. I would love to be one of those women that seem to be on crack and always have the time energy and patience to keep their house nice n tidy, just haven't found that magical power yet! Glad I found your blog, i'm lovin it!!!
