Two Second Task: Now You See (Might) See It. Now You (Hopefully) Don’t.

Spider Webs in the Hard to Reach Window at ASlobComesClean.com

I’ve talked about this particular spot in my kitchen before. This almost-impossible-to-clean spot.

My dislike of climbing up on counters at the age of 41 is the reason I’d pretended to not see those cobwebs in the top picture?

What? You don’t see them? Oh good. Maybe the people who have been in my home since they appeared at least a month ago didn’t see them either.

In the photo, you can see the web in the corner of the window on the far right. In real life, there were equally dusty webs in two other places that didn’t show up in the picture.

I finally took the less-than-a-minute to walk to the nearest closet where I keep a *long handled dusting thingy and dust away those cobwebs.

Just to be clear, the less-than-a-minute included the walking to the closet, the walking back, the dusting, the walking back again to put the duster back in the closet, and several sneezes.

Thats kind of like the conversation about the dust on the celing fan. It usually goes like this:

Husband: Wow that ceiling fan is really dusty
Me: yeah. (eyeroll while mentally adding ANOTHER thing to my to do list)
Husband: We need to clean the dust off of those blades..it looks gross.
Me: silently walking over to the switch for the celing fan, flipping it on, watching the blades spin: “What dust?”

Husband usually points out the dusty ceiling fan before we have people over for dinner and right after I put a nice clean table cloth on the table. He doesn’t mention the ceiling fan any more after a few ‘looks of death’

don’t you just hate it when people say “WE need to clean this…” drives me nuts. either just say “honey please clean it” or do it yourself!

I just respond “feel free to get on that!” And suddenly it’s either done, or not so important.

To easily clean fan blades (even with a new table cloth) get a pillow case. put it over the blades and wipe down. all the dust bunnies stay in the bag.

LOL I know that story too well. When my dh mentions dust in high places I just smile and say, “You’re right! You should get the step ladder out right now before we forget again!”

I just tell him that he knows where the cleaning supplies are as well as I do…

and I’m glad it’s not just me and my Hubby who uses the ‘royal we’…

I love my long handled dusty thingy because it makes these jobs tiny rather than a whole production. I love it almost as much as my long handled dust pan, for making the sweeping up equally less of a fuss. I have three kids 6 and under so there is lots of sweeping up.

Mine area all oxo and both cute, small without being too small and well made.

I would have used the vacuum cleaner with that long attachment.

*hmph* grumble grumble, okay, I’ll brave some of the cobwebs!

There are less cobwebs now. Spiders freak me out and so do cobwebs. I can only do a few at a time before my skin is crawling and I want to scream and runaway, but I did some.

I didn’t see the cobwebs AT ALL in the pic – which makes sense, since I don’t see them in real life either! IF I do – it’s usually right after guests have just left!
