Sponsored post alert!

Two assumptions I make about readers here:

  1. You might struggle (just a little) keeping your home under control. Might.
  2. You’re funny. Or at least you like funny things and/or don’t get offended by people who don’t themselves too seriously.

Because of those two assumptions, when Zep Commercial Cleaners (who make ALL sorts of great cleaning products from fence cleaner to toilet bowl cleaner to garbage odor eliminator) asked me to advertise their search for America’s Biggest Hot Mess contest . . . I decided it was a perfect fit.

I’ve been there. I’ve been at that point where I felt completely and totally overwhelmed and was sure the only way to ever dig myself out of the mess was to have someone come in and clean it up for me.

And that’s exactly what Zep Commercial will do for three winners of their contest! The three submissions with the most votes will be declared winners and will receive a complete house cleaning from Zep Commercial and $5,000 to help keep their home clean for one year. If the winners were nominated by someone else, the nominator will also receive $5,000!

I still have my days (weeks) when I could probably take a contender of a picture, but I was more than a little giddy when this was my husband’s reaction:

Photo - Texts with Hubby where he says things like whew at ASlobComesClean.com

Like, it’s not an automatic assumption (anymore) that I could win this thing in a landslide!!! Wahoo!!

But oh my word, I can’t express how much I would love for one of YOU to win!!

America's Biggest Hot Mess Contest

Here are the contest details:

This contest is now over.

Zep Commercial is searching for America’s Biggest Hot Mess—that person who is undeniably and hopelessly challenged when it comes to keeping their home clean.

Zep Commercial will accept photo and video submissions for America’s Biggest Hot Mess at www.zepcommercial.com/americasbiggesthotmess.aspx between Feb. 6 to March 6, 2014.

Users can nominate themselves and are also encouraged to submit evidence of their friends’, family members’ and coworkers’ messy ways. If a person you nominate is declared one of the three overall winners, then you (the nominator) will receive $5,000.

Nominations and submissions should include a photo or video of the mess and story behind why that persons deserves professional cleaning help. Videos must be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in length, and photos should not exceed 100MB. Acceptable formats for submissions include .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png, .mov, .mpeg, .mwv or .mp4.

Starting March 7, a team of cleaning experts at Zep Commercial will judge all eligible entries based on:

  • The Story Behind the Mess (40%)
  • Creativity (the funnier, the better!) (35%) and;
  • Unbelievability Index (just how disgusting is the mess?) (25%)

From all eligible entries, the 10 entries with the highest scores will be named finalists.

The public will then vote on their favorites, and the three submissions with the most votes will be declared winners and will receive a complete house cleaning from Zep Commercial and $5,000 to help keep their home clean for one year. If the winners were nominated by someone else, the nominator will also receive $5,000!

Winners will be announced on or about April 7, 2014.

How cool is that? Start snapping pictures and taking videos!

This post is sponsored by Zep Commercial, and the contest details in the quote box are copy-pasted from the information they provided to me. I have nothing to do with (and am not responsible for) choosing the winners or providing the prizes. All entries must be made at the Zep Commercial website and you must read and follow the guidelines and details on their website.

    Nony,

I don’t think I can put it all out there for the world to see!

My stove may be a little bit gross at the moment, and $5000 would buy a contractor to construct my built-in storage, but I don’t have anyone to nominate and I’m not at the point where I could allow a professional to help.

Were you ever at a point where you would not have allowed a professional to come help you because they’d try to get you to do massively uncomfortable things? Maybe during e-bay days for fear the pro would push you into stopping?

As much as I’d love for someone else to tackle this chaos…I doubt it qualifies 🙁 . But yay to whom ever wins and does get help!
