Today is the first day of my new non-negotiable task of wiping the bathroom counters and toilets everyday.
It . . . wasn’t . . . that . . . bad.
The main encouragement I got was that in the kids’ bathroom and the half bath, it took less than a minute. This is because I have been doing something in these bathrooms for the last month. I haven’t been cleaning them daily, but they had both been wiped down yesterday since we had some people over last night.
And then the master bathroom. It had NOT been wiped down in a very long time. A VERY long time. I can’t even remember when. It is in the totally-off-limits section of my house. You know, the master bedroom where everything gets thrown just before people come over, and then the door gets locked. So it took about 20 minutes to wipe down, and I used Scrubbing Bubbles wipes rather than the baby wipes. I’m encouraged that maybe it won’t take as much time with this becoming a daily habit.
So today I:
Made bed.
Cleaned kitchen.
Swept kitchen.
Checked bathrooms for clutter and wiped down counters and toilets.
Did 5 minute walk-through.
Ran two loads of laundry.

Nony; thank you for this blog, and archiving it. Even today, please know that it is helping some poor, defenseless slob come clean with inspiration from your words.
I can’t believe no one else has commented on this rather unassuming post. THe reason for my comment was that one word you wrote made me do a double take:
Ran two loads of laundry.
Everyother checklist day, you say 1 load. This day, you were so empowered you went above and beyond your “daily expectations” (even after the toilet cleanings) and I personally think that it need to be recognized! GO YOU!!!!!

I’m going through post by post, from the beginning, and aside from the fact that someone out there was/is just like me,
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT SCRUBBING BUBBLES WIPES?
I just bought them. I love you for this.
