It’s possible you’ve noticed that I only posted twice this week.
And the posts were a link post and a guest post.
I haven’t quit blogging.
But I am consciously taking a step back for summer.
I say “consciously” because it’s actually an effort for me to NOT blog. My mind thinks in blog posts and I generally create cutesy titles for everyday tasks as I’m doing them.
I love this blog, and love the community here. BUT . . . that love doesn’t compare to my love for my family.
I consider them my life’s work.
So, it’s very important to me that they are my priority, and that they KNOW they are my priority, over the next few months.
I’m not going away, and hope to write these random updates on a weeklyish basis. And I have some really fun things planned that I think you’ll like, so there will be something worth checking here at the blog several times each week.
But I only have so much creativity in this chlorinated-water-logged Summer Brain of mine, and I want it to go to my kids.
I’m calling this the Summer of Creativity.
So how did this first week go?
Well, it was busy.
We’ve been swimming every day except Monday (when our pool is closed), and my daughter has been taking a one-hour-a-day-for-one-week dance class.
My kids haven’t showered.
For real. I realized that last night, and was properly horrified.
I have showered.
For this first week, I successfully squashed the “Mom, can we play the Xbox?” bug that makes me want to lose my mind. If my strategy continues to work, I’ll share it with you in coming weeks.
It’s Friday, and Monday’s Laundry Day is almost over. One more load and I’ll be done. I’ve been running the dishwasher every single night (and sometimes an extra time during the day) and the kitchen has stayed under control.
Not perfect, but not we-do-have-a-stove-right?
And now the kids are waking up, so I’m going to get off of the computer.
How is your summer going? Are you in summer yet?
Good for you! Hey it is ok to slow down and I love guest post! They add a little extra variety and sometimes a fresh viewpoint! Have a super summer with the family!
Yeah, so of course you pull back for summer within hours of me catching up on reading from the start. 😛 (I got to the Monday post within hours of you posting it.) Reading through, you’ve both encouraged me to tackle some big projects as well as making me realize that keeping a clean house not a project but changing the way I think. I look around right now and feel like I’ve totally slipped, but after getting home late from a baby shower my husband just finished cleaning the kitchen and told me how easy it was because of all of the work I have been doing.
So thanks to you, the baby room and the master bedroom (which has seen a life very similar to yours, but with less furniture and more boxes) have been majorly improved and I’ve been peeling back the layers in the kitchen, dining room and living room to make it easier to do daily cleaning tasks.
Thank you thank you thank you. And enjoy your kids and your summer. Besides, the less you post the less of an excuse I have to be reading blogs vs. improving my home. 🙂
A much as I enjoy the blogg newletters I receive, I do wish they only came once or twice a week as I go not get to read all of every day. Have a safe and great summer
I loved your statement that your family is your lifes work. That is a great way to see them. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your summer.
