We had a (not so) lovely case of strep throat in the house on Friday. Besides the normal upheaval, my germaphobe brain latched onto the doctor’s “highly contagious” warning.
I knew that, so why did she have to say it???

Henceforth, I was freakishly aware of everything my daughter touched for the next twenty-four hours and everything that might have touched something she touched.
So, even though I tried to be sure that each of her refills came in a different cup, I did decide to disinfect the water-dispenser push-thingys.

Just in case.
And as I did, I saw how they really weren’t white anymore. And how easily they became white again with just a slight amount of effort.

How exactly did I not notice that before?
There you go. Another detail for my 31 Days of Details.

Nony,
I’m glad you noticed the dispenser button needing to be wiped clean. I think of the light switches, doorknobs, and the knobs on the sink and toilet. You don’t necessarily think of the dispenser.
I pray you all experience good health.

hope she feels better soon…and that this isn’t the start of trend:(
That’s a great detail to pay attention to, especially in times of sickness or when company is over. I hope your father-in-law had a good time. I pray your kiddo is feeling better soon!
Great detail, thanks for the reminder! I do the phones, light switches,& tv remotes, but never think of that.
Don’t beat yourself up over this. These white things change color so gradually, even neatniks like me don’t notice.
It is all your fault… i found out about the 31 day challenge following one of your rabbit trails and you are inspiring me. I think i was reading / watching the post on the table you cleared off. anyway here is my ‘day one.”

Another one that gets missed is the fridge handle. I think about the toilets, light switches, and door knobs, but not the fridge handle, which, frankly, gets touched a heck of a lot more than the door knobs. At least around here it does.
Hope everyone is feeling better!
You can also clean the little hose the water comes out of with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol and then dispense a little water to rinse it. It starts to grow yuckiness after a while.
I read somewhere that there’s more germs on the steering wheel of your car than on your toilet. That kind of creeped me out.
