It’s no secret that I don’t love dusting. It drops to the bottom of the to do list whenever anything more exciting comes along. So, with the craziness and general checklist-failure of the summer, I ignored it and didn’t even feel guilty.
I convinced myself that a swipe here and there before guests came over was enough.
I told myself that once school started and I re-focused on my weekly cleaning tasks, I would make up for it.
And . . . I mean, I was only skipping summer. One measly little season of the year!
Somehow, taking the summer off from dusting seemed reasonable.
But then, last Friday, as I decided to do things right in an effort to make up for summer slacking, I found those.
Easter eggs, still hidden. Inside VERY dusty glasses on a very dusty shelf in a very dusty corner of my living room.
Which kind of blew away my I’ve-only-been-slacking-since-the-beginning-of-summer excuse. You know, since Easter was . . . in the Spring.
Reason #692 why I need weekly tasks. Otherwise, I might never think to dust.

The easy solution to this is of course to not hide Easter eggs. 😉

Hahahhaha…. Be thankful that they were plastic Easter eggs. I can remember when I was little & my grandma was babysitting me during the summer. We smelled something horrid near the fridge. Not IN it, but near/around it. Back a gazillion years ago, people saved all their plastic bags – my grandmother stored hers in the bottom drawer in her fridge (yes, yes, I know I am VERY old since I even remember fridges with tip-out drawers under the cold part of the fridge itself)…. well, now it was the hot, hot part of summer…. we started cleaning out that drawer & found a REAL colored Easter egg in there that had cracked…. Pheeewww!!
Thanks for the memory!!

Well, I am proud (not really) to continue my dear mother’s time honored traditions of finding Easter eggs in September and stocking stuffers in May. My children know that there will be unexpected treasure throughout the year!

LOL! That’s awesome, especially since I was playing online instead of dusting. 🙂

I never dust. I know I should, but I guess I don’t know what that looks like for a reforming slob. If you have any suggestions or methods I’d love to know!

Hi Lindsey,
Dusting is one of my weekly tasks. I have it on Friday. That doesn’t mean that I do it every Friday, but even every other Friday or every third Friday or . . . is better than it used to be. Since I don’t notice dust, I have to have it as a task or it will never happen.
