Reality Can Be So Irritating

I had big plans to write a post about how I was going to devote this week to projects.

I was going to show this picture:

Then I was going to explain how this is the result of all my corners-and-hideaways decluttering efforts of the past two weeks.  I was going to wax eloquent about how so much of what I pulled out of these last remaining random piles was unfinished projects.

I thought that because so many times since starting this “coming clean” process, I’ve found that seemingly daunting projects take less time than I expect, I could probably plow through all of these projects in one week.

But then, of course, reality happened.

Home late last night, and so Laundry Day didn’t get its (evidently necessary) headstart.  Having to gather and sort laundry this morning, along with a last minute walk-through before the bug man got here, and my morning was over an hour behind.  Then add in a few more little urgent and unexpected tasks, and I ended up with barely an hour to work on a project.

But I went ahead and pulled out all of my pictures that have been patiently waiting to be framed . . . and all of my frames.

Pretty quickly, I realized that this wasn’t going to be one of those projects that would go faster than expected.  I was able to frame some, but there were quite a few that I didn’t have frames for.  So, now there’s the matter of figuring out what size frames I need, remembering to look for them when I’m out, finding good deals on just the ones I need in styles I like, etc. etc. etc.

And now, I have to figure out where to put this still-unfinished project, so it doesn’t immediately turn back into clutter.

I would say designate one shelf or one plastic bin for photo frames and photos waiting to be framed. At least then the project has a designated space and limit in how much it can grow. Plus, if you're like me, it will keep you from buying duplicates because you've lost one or can't remember which sizes you've already bought.
