Random Weekend Thoughts

First of all, have you noticed that I finally added a picture to my profile? I know that I snuck in a pic in my blogfrog community recently, but this was a big step for me to have one smack-dab at the top of the page. If you’re in the mood, let me know in the comments if I look anything like you imagined. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being “You look exactly like I thought!” and 1 being “Are you using a stock-photo, cuz that’s not anything like the image I had in my head.” 5 would be “Ummm, get over yourself, no one cares.” (I reserve the right to not publish 5s.)

Second, I have a Facebook page now! Another big step for me. I set it up while I was at the Savvy Blogging Summit, but haven’t really said anything about it. I’d love it if you would go “like” me over there. Soon, I’ll figure out how to get new posts to show up on it, so if you’re a facebook junkie, you’ll see when they pop up.

(I am fully aware that the first two points of this post are quite needy-sounding and ego-driven.)

And third, Vistaprint is offering 140 address labels for free. Shipping on the address labels is between 3 and 4 dollars, depending on how fast you want them. I think 7 days, the fastest, is about 3.90.  I’m thinking of ordering some to use as labels for school supplies. Two kids in school plus a million-bajillion teeny tiny supplies equals hand-cramps and Sharpie-smudged-fingers for mommy. I read somewhere years ago that if you have multiple kids, label things using your last name only, so those things become family items that are eventually used by everyone, not hand-me-downs from the big kid to a little kid. It’s a psychological thing.  Using that basic concept, I’m thinking of ordering the labels with just our last name, so I can use them for both boys.

I used Vistaprint for my business cards for the Savvy Blogging Summit, and was very pleased. It’s easy to design things there, and they shipped quickly. They have millions of offers, allllll the time, so you may not want to sign up with your primary email account, but if you are in need of the things they have, they do a good job.   (And by the way . . . if you are wondering . . . the links to Vistaprint are my affiliate links, but everything I said is true about how pleased I was w/my experience with Vistaprint.)

You're adorable! I love the picture. It's the first thing I noticed when I came on tonight. I think it's a great addition… makes me kinda feel like we are friends!

That's a good idea about the labels with just your last name for school supplies. I should do that with clothing labels, too. Do you happen to have a good source for those? (Feel free to spam me with your affiliate link 😉

(P.S. I used to be MJ, but I am sticking my toe into the blogging-for-public-consumption world, so that's why I'm using a different profile now.)

Hmm, I don't know what I was expecting, especially after the hilarious Blog Frog pic! I do think you're far, far cuter than the average slob. Cuter than above average slobs, too! :>)

Lenetta, I can always count on you! I've never been know to react negatively to flattery!

    Thanks everybody!

    Y'all are making me smile!

(I just wanted to add something to my last comment, but somehow, now it makes it look like I said something scandalous and needed to "remove" it.)

Yeah, so now that I've read your newest post, I feel I can say that I thought you'd be older. Not sure how you'll take that, but you're very cute. Do you really clean in a headscarf?!! thanks for posting a pic, now I can picture you in your house picking up toys (or tripping over them) the same as me!

I don't clean in a headscarf unless I'm dusting ceiling fans and don't want dust falling in my hair, so I'd say about once every three years . . . ha ha ha.

🙂 My husband has an obsession with pulling the fuzzy-tipped hose attachment of our vacuum off and vacuuming the fan blades. So ours get done about twice a month! However, he has no idea what "vacumming to the edge of the wall" is. LOL!

Definitely a 10! You look exactly like I pictured you! Which is pretty amazing, since I usually picture people looking nothing like they really do!
