It’s Friday again, and this time, it really is. It’s not Thursday night, when I’m supposed to put up the Focus Check Friday post.
I didn’t post until pretty late last night, and I simply didn’t have the energy or desire to also get this one up. We had been gone all day visiting with friends an hour away, did a crazy but awesome shopping trip which involved each boy doing his own transaction as we passed the recurring 5.00 catalina (the coupon which prints out when you buy certain items) down the line, and then hit traffic on the way home. We blew off the menu plan so we could pick up $5 pizzas, and made the wonderful discovery that if 6 and 8 year old boys go inside by themselves to get them, they give free packs of cookies!
A very fun day, and exactly what summer is supposed to be. I’m starting to panic as the people who come across my path marvel that summer has flown by and school will be starting soon. I’m living in denial. I haven’t technically asked my husband to hide the back-to-school ads, but it’s understood.
And then there’s the blog. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I can’t elevate the blog above my real job . . . being Mom. Knowing all of the things I should be doing is completely overwhelming me. So . . . . I’m not going to worry about them. I’m just going to keep going as I was pre–Savvy Blogging Summit, living in the state of blissful cluelessness, until summer is over and I have a more rigid schedule that includes specific hours devoted to the blog.
I’ll post daily, to achieve the blog’s purpose of keeping my focus on my home, but everything else will have to wait a month or so unless I have an unexpected free day when MIL takes the kids.
How’s your focus? If you’re new, you can read about the basic concept behind Focus Check Friday here. This is your reminder to stop what you’re doing, realize that it really is Friday, and take a moment to gear up for next week.
You can link up a post below, write a novel in the comments, or even just close your eyes and think about it for a while. If you do link up below, please say something like “I’m linking up to Focus Check Friday over at A Slob Comes Clean” and then link back to this post. If you don’t know how to do that, I’d love to help!
My focus just became shaving excess off the budget (not that there was much to begin with), when my husband lost his job 2 hours ago.
Amanda, I'm soooo sorry.
With the great bathroom remodel about to start this weekend and school starting in 18 days, I am in a stress fog. Trying to determine how to squeeze in fun and housework in 101 degree temps is just to much for me. Have decided 1 hour a day on the house cleaning the rest to the kids and leave the remodel to the hubby.
Focus this week not being completely lazy with house guests and volunteering at camp. I can’t have my mom do the dishes every night her job should be enjoying the babies.
