Daily Checklist and Excuses

I generally write two posts a day. My daily checklist and a general post about this process.

I decided last week that I should write my daily checklist post first, and then the other (hopefully more interesting) post second so that if someone checked the blog, they would see the interesting post first. Not that my daily checklists aren’t riveting.

This is what I need to do.

However . . . I like writing the other post so much that I’m excited to sit down and write it. It’s the one that pops into my head during the day and I mull over until I get to sit down during nap time. So, I want to do it first, because it’s more fun. Writing the daily checklist post means that I have to get up and do my daily tasks. Not as much fun.

This is why for the last few days, they have been one combined post. I wanted to get to the fun stuff first, so I just tacked the checklist onto the end. Total excuse, and I’m sorry, but I’ll try to do better.

I actually changed the title of this post four times while I fought with myself about it. I knew I needed to do the checklist first, which meant I had to get up and do the tasks, and I just didn’t want to. I’m thinking this is why I’ve ended up having this blog. I’m simply not driven to get up and clean when there’s something more fun out there.

So here it is:

Made bed. (Wow does it make a difference to have a pretty made-bed in a clutter free bedroom!)

Emptied dishwasher.

Cleaned up kitchen.

Swept kitchen. (Tried to justify not doing this, but couldn’t)

Checked bathrooms for clutter and found it.

Did general pickup and found lots of little things to put away.

Made sure clothes were hung up.

Got up again just now to be sure clothes really were hung up. They were.

Didn’t do my evening tasks last night because I was so tired from the party. Total excuse and I regretted it this morning.
