I still have quite a bit more work to do, but I’m so happy with this progress. Now, again, I can walk into this room and it makes me happy.
I have also noticed how much of a difference this room makes in my attitude about my house overall. With this room presentable, I feel so much better about things. Even though the living room, dining room, and kitchen are in the same “pretty-good” state that they were in before I worked on this room, I feel like my house is clean now. I think that part of it is that the house feels bigger when this room isn’t full of clutter. It’s like adding some serious square footage to my home when I clear the floor in here.
Hmmm.

Yay!! I know this is an old post, but I’m catching up. Your office looks GREAT! It really is amazing how much more productive and creative you feel in a space that isn’t silently draining your energy with its chaos. Hope you’re STILL enjoying it!

Very nice! Even with the walls darker, it still looks brighter in the room. 🙂

Good for you! In my previous home, the smallest of the bedrooms was used as an office. I like the idea of being able to close the door when I left that space and no one else was subjected to my messiness. But, I took the time to think about that room and all that I did in there. In my mind I heard, “Yes, but….”. You see, I had so much stuff in there that I had to move too many things to get to the thing that I needed or wanted to work on…; Decluttering began! Things were moving along swimmingly until we had to move… My office space in our current home (and last, I hope) is not behind a door, so I do have to keep it moderately clutter free. Looking at things now, I am glad that I do not have that door to hide behind. I have been working on paring down the things that must be kept, but I am doing that with paper right now. I am using a “Neat Receipts” scanner and reducing everything to a pdf file and storing it on CD and an external hard drive. You would be amazed at how much more room there is in our family room/office without all of that paper! Amazing! I love reading your blog! You are doing the practical things and accomoplishing so much; showing your readers that it is do-able and, really, not hard to do. Thank you so much!

I love this comment, Dianne. And yes, the door can be a good thing and a bad thing . . .

I don’t know if you can edit these old blog posts, but asoftplace is now an adult-oriented site. I don’t think you want to link to it anymore…
