I’ve been given permission to share this reader’s story with you. I love her openness, and her willingness to share her personal experience making progress while facing mental health challenges. This isn’t intended to give mental health advice, but I hope it serves the purpose of giving you hope that it is possible to make real progress.
Dear Dana,
I would like to thank you for changing my life.
I listened to one of your books [Decluttering at the Speed of Life] and within three months I managed to declutter most of the things I don’t need, and my flat is always ready for visitors. I still have more decluttering to do but I’ve decided to have a small break as my mental health is low at the moment.
I have bipolar effective disorder and I rarely have a normal mood. I’m either hypomanic and chaotic or very depressed and cannot function. I’m really proud that despite the low mood episode I’m going through I have managed to keep my little place in order.
Your book taught me that I’m not a lost cause and by doing little and often I’ve managed to stick to a routine. This means that I have minimal work to do to keep my place clean and tidy. I clear up after myself and put things away as soon as I use them.
I regularly listen to your books as they keep me grounded and inspire me to keep up my good habits.
I cannot thank you enough for your help and the hope you have given me.
Thank you for sharing. I can relate to mental health struggles and the toll it can take on maintaining quality of life. I am just beginning my venture into Declutter at the Speed of Life and your testimony is inspiring. All the best to you and others on our journey for peace of mind in our homes.
What a beautiful story to read!!! I am also truly inspired by this. I have been doing little things, but often– and Dana was the first person I ever saw/read who celebrated this. It was groundbreaking for me. It has also changed my life in beautiful countless ways 🙂
She is brave and inspiring. A perfect example of what daily habits, no mess decluttering, and your other excellent methods can do.
This is a great reminder & encouragement, that the small things matter and lead to great things! 🙂
Thank you for sharing this. It tells me there is hope for me. I lost my organization when I was caregiving for my parents. I accumulated so much because I didn’t have time/energy to take care of it properly that it became a clutter. I have Dana’s books but it is the discipline to sit and read when there is so much to do that I need to work on. Thank you Dana for your posts, too.
What a wonderful story! I love all the things that I have learned. I am all in with gathering information and hopefully being to share at some point. Thank you Dana!
YAY, Writer – Congrats on your great Success!
And Thanks for letting Dana share your story with us – You are very inspiring!
