Focus Check Friday – Squeezing Every Last Moment Out of Summer

I think I’ve made my points with the kids.

  • The house has to be cleaned to be livable.
  • Someone has to clean it as we have no resident fairies.
  • Cleaning is hard work.
  • As soon as you clean it, it gets dirty and needs to be cleaned again.
  • Mom usually does all of this on her own so the least we can do is contribute while we’re out of school for the summer.

Yeah, yeah Mom . . . we get it.

(Now if only I could get it.)

Even though we were on vacation for close to four weeks of the summer, we worked together just enough times, just consistently enough that they will remember that we did clean this summer.  At least for the first three weeks of school they’ll remember it.

I’m not saying that we’re not going to clean anymore.  But as we try to fit in the last of the things we want to do this summer, I’m not going to stress if we’re not home for Mopping Day.

Next week is already pretty scheduled, and I still have a list of “if we can” activities.

As far as the blog goes, I’m trying to keep myself in check.  Daily checklists and fluffy posts may be all I can do.  I’m fitting in little changes as I can, but my to-do list of all the things I’d love to do can just keep growing until I can get to it.

How has your focus been?  You can read the basic concept behind Focus Check Friday here.

This is your opportunity to stop, think, and regroup for next week.  Realize that a week has passed and decide where your energy needs to be focused next week.

You can leave a comment or link up a post below.  If you do link up, please link directly to your Focus Check Friday post, and then link back to this post, saying something like “I’m linking up to Focus Check Friday over at A Slob Comes Clean.”

Sorry to get this up so late, but somehow it didn’t post as scheduled!

Hmmm… I get the "yeah, yeah mom" as well.

Still waiting on the cleaning fairies. I think they are on strike or something.

    Have a great weekend!

My best friend from high school visited us for a day with her kiddos – what a great incentive to clean up! The house is pretty much back to "normal" now, though. Guess I need to have people over more often!

House guests just left and it is back to reality and trying to maintain the clean that was built up for the guests. Who also happend to cook, do laundry and dishes while babysitting.
