Swept Along

I’m feeling that “swept along” feeling I get on a busy day. Things are normally busy on Wednesdays, but when you add a few extras in, even good extras, I start to feel like I’m moving along through the day without actually being in control of where I’m going or how fast I’m moving.

On days like today, I see the real difference between having a written list of things that I should do in my home every day and an in-my-head list of things I should do.

I arrived home in the middle of a downpour and had to put away groceries. It hailed for the less-than-one-minute it took to get the last few bags out of the trunk. Um . . . hail hurts.

So I ran in, put away the frozen and refrigerated stuff, changed out of my soaking wet clothes, and ran to the computer since I’m determined to turn it off and have a computer-free afternoon with the kids after school.

But thanks to my blog, I felt obligated to do a 5 minute pickup. I made it more like six minutes, and was once again amazed at the difference just a few minutes focused on my house can make. It’s the difference between doorbell-induced-panic-attacks and I-haven’t-been-home-all-day-and-so-I-feel-justified-that-my-house-isn’t-perfect.

Seriously. Six minutes.

Oh, and what else have I done since arriving home? Well, I just redeemed swagbucks for two more 5 dollar Amazon giftcards. That’s $50 in Amazon giftcards I’ve now gotten from swagbucks. (If you want to know how Swagbucks work, go read this post where I explained it.)

I agree and your little blogging about all this has helped me. I like the house clean but was finding it really hard to keep up with 3 little ones still at home and to be honest my 4 year olds are sucking the life out of me…not sure if it's because they are 4 or because they are twins…anyhoo…Your blog helped me realize I need to do a chore a day. Bathrooms are Monday's..I have 2 full baths and one half…so this is helpful to know in my head MOnday's I get it done.

So thank you for blogging. I get so much more out of this than housekeeping so please keep on
