Are We Out of Kleenex? Really??

Useful Stuff At the Bottom of the Pile of Clutter at ASlobComesClean.com

Sometimes, I should just declutter instead of going to the store. I find all sorts of useful stuff.

We’d been lamenting the lack of “facial tissues” in our house lately, and I’d been MEANING to order more on Amazon. Really, my normally amazingly-understanding Hubby had been more than a little irritated about using T.P. to blow his nose.

But when I decluttered that chair by my bed, I found a big, almost full box. We HAD Kleenex, we just didn’t have any idea we had them.

Blergh.

What’s the most useful thing you’ve found while decluttering?

Not-so-random affiliate link coming up:

I did go order some Kleenex. That way, when the box is empty (or piled-upon), we’ll be okay. It’s not THE best deal I could ever get on Kleenex, but I’ve learned to place value on my sanity. And on my dry nose. And on Hubby’s sanity. (Especially on Hubby’s sanity.)

Not really useful, but when I was digging through my closet back in back in March I found Christmas presents! My sister in law had shipped them to us before I had my tree up so I had hidden them. And forgot about them.

Money would be the one for me that would be the most useful, but even that is rare!

It is amazing that something you use on your behind is not soft enough for your nose, but it’s true…and I always find tissues, usually in a mashed up box.

money. When my husband and I were decluttering and getting ready to move from an apartment into a house, I saw his portable lockbox. My husband likes to keep his medicine in the living room/kitchen because he spends most of his time in those rooms. I told him I would feel better if he would stash his medicine in the lockbox so the movers would not be tempted. When he opened the box, he found $1000 in traveller’s checks.

I can’t really think of anything I’ve found that’s particularly useful, but I haven’t seen a box of notebooks I really want since the move …. and I really hope the crew who hauled everything didn’t leave it behind. :/

Cash. As others have mentioned. Glad it’s not just me. Pulled out a jacket that I hadn’t worn since last winter and found two $20 bills in the pocket.

And tissues. Seriously! The exact same thing happened to me recently when DD got a cold. Thought I had some, couldn’t find them, bought some, then found not one but two slightly smooshed boxes in a place I never would have looked.

Most useful — I found a package of printer ink, still in the shopping bag, in the garage among shopping bags of non-perishable groceries. $60 bucks. I KNEW I’d bought ink but coudn’t find it when I needed it, so bought more.

Dana, I just love how candid you are. I would NEVER comment to my slobby ways anywhere but here. You speak to me like no one else. And I comment here because I know I’m safe from judgment, an in the hopes that it will help others know they are not alone. Moral support helps people feel better.

I have a question about your affiliate links, like do they work if we don’t buy the item you link to. Say I clicked on your tissues link and then went and bought a crib. Would that still count towards you?

Yep! It would totally count! Anything you purchase after you get to Amazon via my link earns me a small commission without changing your purchase price. Thanks for asking!

Confession time. I cleaned out/organized the pantry this weekend. Found 3 unopened 5 lb. bags of self rising flour and two freshly opened bags…and still had flour on my mental shopping list!!! So frustrating.

My in-laws once insisted we were out of kleenex. When I produced a 12-pack of full sized boxes, they were flabbergasted, appalled, completely taken aback.

They were on the shelf where they belonged.

I’m in no way implying I’ve never done such a thing, just that kleenex are sneaky!

I was helping my 83 year old parents pack up a house they had lived in for 46 years. They had a chest freezer big enough to put at least 6 bodies in. Lol, so I had the task of cleaning it out to do the food transfer to their new home. My mom is a very organized clean freak, (never rubbed off on me), so to find a salmon my dad had packed and dated from September 1970 was quite a find! I was born in 1970! I’m 44!

So my question is, why do you order your Kleenex on Amazon? Is it cheaper than the grocery store?

I can never find our Kleenex. I need to find one spot to keep them but don’t have anywhere so they get moved around & lost.
